Good evening! My name is Steve Li, the father of bride. On behalf of my wife, Mindy and Dr. Chen's family, I would like to thank everyone for taking your time to come here for Stephanie and Kevin's big day. We appreciate your love and support. Together, we witness and celebrate their love and union. It is a great pleasure and honor to have you here tonight.

I would like to thank Stephanie's grandparents, close families and relatives in China, who unfortunately can not be here with us tonight. Without their unconditional love and support, we certainly would not be able to have today. Thanks also goes to our family friends from San Francisco, Boston, Edison, NJ, Hershey, Philly, Baltimore, DC and our hometown, Hollidaysburg, PA.

Marriage begins with love, and love also nourishes the marriage.

In this complicated world, each country, each state, each people, each family and even each person understands and interprets 'love' differently. Today, Stephanie and Kevin, please let me try to explain to you what our family and I understand 'love' after getting married.

'Love' has four letters.

L stands for living together and never separating. It does not only mean to stay close physically, but most importantly to unite your hearts into one. It would be much more efficient and happier if you two people can think and work like one person.

O means obligations. Marriage demonstrates both of you are willing, and will, carry out obligations as a family. You ought to protect, take care of, and help each other and your children with all of your capacity and means. You also should respect each other's family and relatives, and treat them like your own.

V is your vow. Always remember your beautiful vow in the heart and do not let it fade away in this busy and alluring world. Please renew your vow every anniversary. Please check your ring and make sure it in a perfect position every morning after you dress up and is ready to go out.

E means easy going. Each of us is different because of our genes, family, culture, education and life experience. Stephanie and Kevin, if you think you have known each other's differences now, you probably are wrong. After both of you live together, you will find more differences between you, possibly every day. Your mother and I have married more than 30 years, but I still often find differences between us. However, please do not try to change the other over night. Instead, you should just let the other change gradually. Please treat your life partner with respect and grace, if you wish to be treated in the same way.

Stephanie, you were born with your mother's and my dream, and therefore we gave you a middle name, 梦, which is 'dream' in Chinese. When you were four years old, we left our motherland and families behind, and brought you to this country with an only wish, that is to provide you a better life. You have grown up and become an absolutely beautiful, elegant, intelligent and passionate young lady now. In you, I often see your mother and myself of years ago. You are our dream girl, and also a daughter all parents dream for. You have always made your mother and me very proud, especially tonight!

Mindy and I thank our in law, June and Dr. Chen, for giving us a brilliant son. Kevin, welcome to our family. We have known Kevin for 8 years. He is alway handsome, gentle, honest and smart. When Mindy was pregnant in California years ago, we did not know we were going to have a girl or boy. We eventually decided that if it were a boy, he would be called Kevin. So Kevin, you are our 'dream' son or son of 'dream coming true' now. Kevin and Stephanie, I believe, are the best matched young couple I have ever known.

Life is a long, hard journey. We dance, run, walk, but also stumble and fall. Stephanie and Kevin, your mother and I hope you are able to hold and support each other on your own journey and wish the best for your health, family and career. Most of all, we wish both of you have a happy life together.

Now, it is my great honor and privilege to propose a toast. For Stephanie, for Kevin, for their love, for their eternal union, cheers! 干杯！
