TaiJi was created as a martial art sometime in the 12th century, based on the concept of yin/yang, as observed in the natural world. The originators, aside from self defence were also interested in good health and longevity. Due to it's slow movements with gentle turns and twists of the torso, combined with relaxed breathing, TaiJi works on balancing and improved the primary functions of the bodies internal organ system. This results in improved blood production, circulation, and bone marrow density. This is turn may prevent disease and minimise existing health complications. TaiJi has been the subject of much medical research both in China and in the West. TaJi has been shown to : Build strength, balance, flexibility, cardio-respiratory fitness, improve coordination, proprioception, bone density, immune function, digestion, blood and skeletal alignment, reduced stress, and anxiety. TaiJi has also been studied for it's effect on arthritis, diabetes, and stroke. While not a cure everything, never the less TaiJi has generated considerable interest for it's healthy benefits. People who practice TaiJi enjoy a significant improvement in their sense of well being and quality of life, calmer and more relaxed.

Master Yazi Liu is from Xian Yang City in China.
