<p class="ql-block"> You are teaching Chinese abroad，and you have found your students</p><p class="ql-block">don't seem to like you but like their </p><p class="ql-block">former Chinese teacher better.Thus</p><p class="ql-block">they don't really cooperate with you </p><p class="ql-block">or follow your instruction，thought </p><p class="ql-block">they behave normally in other</p><p class="ql-block"> teachers' classes.What are you going </p><p class="ql-block">to do?</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"> In the first place，I won't take it</p><p class="ql-block">culture ，because I know the </p><p class="ql-block">students don't really dislike me but </p><p class="ql-block">what and how I've taught and how I've</p><p class="ql-block">behaved.</p><p class="ql-block"> When teaching abroad，some of</p><p class="ql-block">the Chinese teaching skills are not </p><p class="ql-block">always loved by all the students，and</p><p class="ql-block">some of our behaviour is not fully</p><p class="ql-block">accepted due to the culture difference.</p><p class="ql-block">In this case，I'll try to find out why my students don't like that and what they</p><p class="ql-block">normally like.</p><p class="ql-block"> Then I'll make some adjustments</p><p class="ql-block">accordingly，trying to teach and</p><p class="ql-block"> behave in ways that the local students</p><p class="ql-block">are used to.I can also ask my</p><p class="ql-block"> colleagues for advice and help.For</p><p class="ql-block">example，I can ask one or two of</p><p class="ql-block"> them to observe my lesson and see</p><p class="ql-block">what my teaching style is like，so they</p><p class="ql-block">may give me some advice.And it </p><p class="ql-block">would be fantastic if I could observe</p><p class="ql-block">some of the local teachers' lessons to</p><p class="ql-block">give myself more ideas，like-</p><p class="ql-block"> * what kind of thing the local </p><p class="ql-block">teachers normally teach the students</p><p class="ql-block">and how they teach，</p><p class="ql-block"> *how they make their lessons </p><p class="ql-block">effective and fun，</p><p class="ql-block"> *how they guide the students and</p><p class="ql-block">interact with them，</p><p class="ql-block"> *how they do the classroom</p><p class="ql-block">management，what kind of </p><p class="ql-block">instruction they give，and what </p><p class="ql-block">techniques they use，and</p><p class="ql-block"> *what kind of learning style the</p><p class="ql-block"> students normally have，et cetera.</p><p class="ql-block"> So I can learn from them and</p><p class="ql-block">make my Chinese teaching better.</p><p class="ql-block"> There are some other ways to </p><p class="ql-block">improve my life and work abroad.</p><p class="ql-block">For instance，I can make some local</p><p class="ql-block">friends to know better of the local</p><p class="ql-block">culture，like what their life is like and</p><p class="ql-block">how people normally behave.In the</p><p class="ql-block">meanwhile，I need to share with my </p><p class="ql-block">students the knowledge about the</p><p class="ql-block">culture and schooling in China，so </p><p class="ql-block">that they may stand in my shoes and</p><p class="ql-block">understand me better.And it will help</p><p class="ql-block">if I'm involved in school life，letting the</p><p class="ql-block">students know better of me as a </p><p class="ql-block">people person.</p>
