Since I last visited Sydney in February last year, a whole year has passed in the blink of an eye. The main purpose of my stay in Sydney is to accompany my lovely grandson. Aaron is already 8 years old this year. I still feel that I can't be away from him. At the same time, Sydney's climate and environment are also very attractive to me. In my spare time from household chores, we also walk around, enjoy the scenery, take photos, make beautiful articles, and play with our phones. These days, we spend day and night together, proving the saying we once mentioned: we look forward to him growing up quickly; he accompanies us as we slowly grow old. This is life. And life is just like this.
“ Longtaitou”
"Dragon Heads-raising Day" falls on the second day of the second lunar month. According to tradition, today grandma gave everyone a haircut again. Recently, the child seems to have been experiencing some "bad luck in the flow of years." During the holiday in Shanghai, he suddenly injured his leg and had to seek medical attention repeatedly in both Shanghai and Sydney. Now that school has started, he needs to take leave for recovery. He happened to catch a cold and has been running a persistent fever... Among other troubles, the child is facing many difficulties. However, no matter how rough the waves get, he still holds his head high like a dragon! His optimistic and cheerful nature helps him shake off the shadows and continue to strive upward. In the first phase of the new semester, he received the first excellence award of the term. It's truly like sailing against the wind and embarking on a journey of ten thousand miles. Child, I sincerely admire your magnanimity, am moved by your strength, and proud of your striving!
On the way to school
This morning, Grandpa and Grandma escorted him to school. His leg injury has been re-examined and healed, and the doctor has agreed to resume normal activities. Aaron volunteered to walk a stretch of the way to school. It was a journey of over 20 minutes, including an uphill slope. Lively by nature, he chatted and sang along the way, jumping and hopping. "This place is quite pretty, take a picture of me," he said; "This place is also nice, take another one"... As he approached the school, perhaps feeling a bit tired, he muttered to himself with a sigh: "Oh, it's quite hard on you elders to come pick me up after school!" Oh, the child has already learned to be considerate of the hardships of his elders. Truly, life teaches children to be sensible, and hardships help them grow.
“0330”
Face life with a smile, and the sunshine will always be brilliant.
Revisiting Darling Harbour
After days of continuous rain, the intermittent sunshine is a rare piece of good weather lately. It's time to go out and fly freely, to adjust ourselves. Every time I visit Sydney, Darling Harbour has been there countless times already. I revisited the newly renovated Darling Harbour. The beautiful scenery remains the same, with an endless charm that is even more captivating. We walked around, strolled, and ate... Our hearts were singing.
Watching the sea at lang reef beach
On Sunday, under the bright sunshine, we drove to Long Reef Beach for a day of fun. It seemed to be a peninsula with a high reef plateau, bordered by a long stretch of sandy beach by the sea. On the other side was a gently undulating golf course blanketed in green grass. A pedestrian path with a wide view and stunning visuals wound between the highlands, the beach, and the golf course. We arrived here, embracing the blue sea and sky, accompanied by the green grass and golden sands. We climbed high, looked into the distance, walked energetically, and enjoyed the scenery. Laughter filled the air all the way, and so did joy...
Vacationing at a homestay by Lake Macquarie
Aaron's school is on holiday, and we are accompanying the children on a vacation by the water. We drove nearly a hundred kilometers north of Sydney to the Central Coast, where we rented a homestay by Lake Macquarie for a few days. The lake here is broad and calm, with an exceptionally elegant environment. Each household's pier extends into the water, with white boats moored at the shore. The waterside scenery is very pleasant. At dusk, the sky is filled with red clouds, casting a crimson glow over the lake. Fish also frequently leap out of the water, either for sightseeing or foraging. Bathed in the afterglow of the sunset, one can cast a line from the pier by the water's edge. The world is truly wonderful, and the scenery here is beautiful!

r
Hunter Valley with beautiful scenery and fragrant wine
Hunter Valley is renowned for its exquisite wines and is also a popular vacation destination. Within the vineyards, there are emerald greens and clear waters, with trees swaying gently; blue skies and white clouds, with a cool breeze blowing. It presents a beautiful pastoral scene. The workshops and cottages, along with the old mansions preserved in their original state, are well-maintained and tidy, shining brilliantly under the sunlight. The scenery here is equally rich and mellow, not inferior to the fine wines produced in the area. At noon, the farm's dining hall is packed with people. Waiting in line took us nearly two hours. Many young friends who made appointments to visit the winery are laughing and chatting; there are also many couples, old men and women who have traveled far, seemingly gathering to celebrate their own festival. Their makeup is neat, their demeanor elegant, raising their glasses frequently to enjoy the delicious meals. They respect life and savor the ceremonial sense of living, which is pleasing to the eye and enviable.
Watching the sunset
My little dog Coopa, whose Chinese name is Kuopa, came to my home when it was just a few months old, and now it has been three years. In the afternoon, I took Coopa for a walk. After driving more than 40 kilometers, we went to Bare Island in the southern part of Sydney to watch the dusk sunset. Bare Island, with only a single bunker, is truly named as such, giving off a somewhat lonely and desolate feeling. An old wooden boardwalk connects it to the mainland. At sunset, the slanting sun made the pebble beach sparkle, and the afterglow of the dusk sun also "sunburned" the shore rocks red. Some people call the sunset here "the most beautiful dusk." Our little Coopa might also be infatuated with the sunset view, lying on the high ground by the sea, reluctant to leave for a long time.
New Zealand Autumn Appreciation (Video)
Aaron is once again in the midst of the joyful school holidays. Take him along, and let's head to New Zealand again, to Queenstown on the South Island, to enjoy the autumn scenery. (For more details, see the essay "A Trip to Queenstown, New Zealand" on Meipian)
Love the sea
Perhaps because of my love for the sea, I have always believed that the most beautiful scenery in Sydney is the countless charming bays and the vast sandy beaches. I always feel that living here, the best leisure activity is to go and watch the sea. Gazing at the sea and sky blending into one color, listening to the waves lapping against the shore; basking in the warm sunshine, enjoying the grace of nature. If there is a chance to come and cast a line or two to tease the fish, that would be even more leisurely.
Visit the Flower Exhibition
I heard that the Royal Botanic Garden's Global Flower Exhibition is about to close. Aaron accompanied us to catch the "last train." The scale of the exhibition is not large, but it truly features a myriad of flowers in various shapes, each vying for beauty. The exhibition is a visual feast that uses fresh flower arrangements to interpret the customs and cultures of different countries; it also serves as a party gathering for flower enthusiasts through demonstration teaching and the exchange of experiences.
Move forward...! (Video)
Aaron has been learning to ride a three-wheeled scooter since he was young and has mastered many skills such as speed skating, jumping, uphill riding, and emergency braking on the sports field. This time, a new two-wheeled scooter was purchased for Aaron. With one less wheel, the handling method is completely different, and the difficulty has increased significantly. Our Aaron is bold and meticulous, and he quickly mastered the new balance and riding techniques. After just a few trial rides at home, he dared to "fly" on the road. Yes! As children grow day by day, we should let go more and let them learn to move forward independently. The journey of life is also like riding a scooter; one must be sure of the direction and good at maintaining balance. Overcome bumps and hardships, and keep moving forward bravely! I believe in you, Aaron. On the road of life, you will do even better!
Green Field
Today, during the soccer training session of the community club's youth team, Aaron took on the role of goalkeeper. "One man holding the pass can stop an army." He kept a clean sheet! The two sides parted amicably with a 0-0 draw. There are countless soccer clubs at various levels here. Australians seem to have a passion for sports; on weekends, countless green fields are bustling from morning till night. Teams of all age groups train weekly and hold leagues annually. They are well-organized and impressive. Sports for all, aimed at fitness, is truly deeply ingrained and flourishing everywhere here.
Barangaroo
The extension project of the light rail has finally been completed, directly reaching the newly renovated Barangaroo Harbour. This place has become a new popular leisure spot. Taking advantage of the weekend leisure time, we came here again for a leisurely visit.
“Ganao Mang” (video)
Life cannot do without music. I can't play or sing myself, so I might as well listen to others' performances more often. Besides, frequently participating in the "lively hustle" of the younger generation is also beneficial to the physical and mental health of us elderly people. Zhang Liangying, a famous beautiful Chinese singer, has come to Sydney for a solo concert. This news has caused a stir among Chinese fans. Tickets for the concert are in high demand! But we managed to find a way and joined in the excitement at the scene.
Queen Victoria Building
QVB was built more than 120 years ago. It is a grand Victorian-style building and is still Sydney's most famous shopping mall. In recent years, in response to market changes, many cafes and restaurants have been introduced here, increasing the flow of people. However, due to the global economic downturn, QVB has few customers and is not very popular. This is a good thing, as it frees up a lot of space for photography enthusiasts to take pictures.
Clivia flowers bloom
Spring has arrived with its blooming flowers, and it's once again the season for the Clivia to flourish. The few plants in the yard are also vying to display their beauty. However, the imperfection lies in the fact that those growing wild by the house seem a bit "constricted"; while those cultivated in pots appear somewhat delicate... It seems that next year, more effort will be needed; we really must "add some oil" to the care.
Swing with Elegance (Video)
Aaron started learning to play golf, swinging the club with earnestness and precision.
Mona vela
Monavila Beach is a seaside scenic area just 14 kilometers from home. It is said that the scenery here is very beautiful, not only because of the blue sea and golden sands, the white clouds and blue sky; nor is it only because of the sea breeze and the waves lapping the shore, but also because there is no crowd as in those famous scenic spots. This place is a quiet residential area with complete facilities. There is a diving training camp by the sea and a beautiful golf course. When we come here to play, we don't have the ability to swing a club or dive into the sea. We just climb high in the club's coffee bar to enjoy the view, raise our glasses to taste fine wine, and take photos of the scenery. It is equally refreshing.
Participate in a marathon
It was a privilege to join Aaron in participating in the annual Sydney Marathon. Experiencing the local fitness event here was quite interesting and an eye-opener. Don't be surprised! We took part in the mini fitness run, which is only 4.2 kilometers long. That means starting from the North Shore start in Sydney, running past the usually bustling Sydney Harbour Bridge, all the way to the finish line at the Royal Botanic Gardens.

(Video, please click)
Tour Melbourne (Video)
Aaron is on spring break and will be going on a trip. We also took this opportunity to take a leisure trip to Melbourne (for more details, see the Meipian article "Strolling and Viewing Melbourne"). In Melbourne, besides getting plenty of rest and exploring every street and alley in the city center, we also went to the suburbs and boarded the popular Internet-famous Steam Forest Mini Train. So happy, haha!
sweet nothings
Upon learning that his grandmother was about to return to Shanghai, Aaron said affectionately to her, "Nai Nai, I will miss you when you go back to Shanghai..." It seemed to be a sincere outpouring of his feelings. Because Aaron has always been sensible and grateful. Phrases like "Nai Nai, you've worked hard," and "Thank you, Ya Ya," are often on his lips. Whenever he makes the slightest mistake, he would always start with an "I'm sorry"; it could also be his sweet talk. Because Aaron has been a clever child who knows how to read people's expressions and make others happy since he was young. However, no matter what, when the elderly in the family hear these words, they always feel extremely comfortable, all fatigue vanishes, and they instantly feel filled with happiness.
Farewell to the Jacaranda
Jacaranda trees burst into bloom in the streets and alleys of Australian cities every November. This year, grandma wants to say "goodbye" to the already budding jacarandas before temporarily leaving Sydney for Shanghai. We arrived at Milson Park, Sydney's most famous jacaranda viewing spot. The best time to appreciate the flowers this year might still need a few more days of waiting. Lovely and beautiful people couldn't wait to come and visit. They pose, strike attitudes, and take photos with the newly bloomed jacarandas as souvenirs. We were also full of "elegant interest," enjoying the flowers, admiring the scenery, taking pictures, and leaving memories in this beautiful seaside park.
Halloween
Halloween is coming again, and the kids in Sydney are preparing for the holiday. Aaron has already planned to create a new character this year. He has been dressing up and rehearsing at home. He is ready to dress up and show his best.
Strive to climb
"Do not fear the clouds that obscure your vision, for you are already at the highest level." On the weekend, Dad took Aaron out for exercise again. They practiced rock climbing at a club in Bankstown. Climbing allows children to experience courage and cultivate an unyielding will to move upward. Indeed! Aaron is about to become a young man, and he should strengthen his exercise. To stand taller and see further; to possess both courage and perseverance, equipped with both physical strength and wisdom.
Beautiful street view
The time has come for the jacaranda blossoms in Sydney to burst into bloom. Their delicate purple hues and subtle fragrance permeate the streets and alleys here. At the turn of spring and summer, the jacarandas flaunt their beauty, marking Sydney's most enchanting season of the year. Head out onto the streets and capture the highlights of Sydney.
birthday party (video)
With meticulous planning and the help of his dad, Aaron organized his 8th birthday party. He invited more than twenty classmates to his home. They jumped, danced, sang, and laughed! They fought for candies and cut the cake, gathering together to share the joy! Happy birthday to Aaron! May you be happy every day!
Shout for My Hometown
In the AFC Champions League elite match, the Central Coast team from Sydney faced the Shanghai Shenhua team on their home turf in Sydney. It was quite exciting to have a Chinese team here. In the evening, we traveled over 80 kilometers north to the beautiful Central Coast Stadium by the sea to cheer for our hometown team from afar. It was a pity that Shanghai Shenhua, who led the game all the way, failed to secure their victory in the final moments, suffering a last-minute draw. Such a pity, really a bit of a letdown! But perhaps that's also the charm of football.
travel together
Coopa has grown up and become even more stable in personality. It's also become cuter. When it's quiet, it can stay motionless for half a day, either lying at the door or squatting in front of the window, waiting for family members and guarding the home. This morning, early in the day, Coopa and its little brother set off together for a playdate. They crossed the big bridge, walked through Sydney, and went up to the opera house... It's rare to go out for a trip, to adjust their mood. Strolling in the city, taking in the sights. Haha! So happy! Look at the two of them, they're laughing so hard they "can't close their mouths."
Happy to receive a medal
Time flies, and the second grade academic year is coming to an end once again. Well done, Aaron! Over the past year, you have received numerous commendations for excellence. At the year-end summary and commendation ceremony, Aaron got his wish and was awarded the annual excellence medal. Nothing could make us happier than this. Great job, kid! You've got our thumbs up! We are moved by your perseverance; we applaud your efforts! We rejoice in your growth, and we are full of expectations for your future! Good job, Aaron! Keep it up! Cheer on!
Family Christmas feast
Isn't it said that life should be filled with a sense of ceremony? Christmas has arrived, and Aaron suggested that our family should also have a lively Christmas Dinner. For his son's legitimate request, Dad was always ready to oblige. After work that day, Dad was busy in the kitchen for more than two hours, preparing a sumptuous Christmas Eve feast: Christmas salad, blanched red shrimp, pan-seared steak, sashimi platter, ... And there was also a bright red Christmas cake. Facing this table full of delicious dishes, Aaron expressed his gratitude to daddy in his unique way; he was thankful for life. Indeed! The trials of life often make people feel hard and difficult. But the little progress made after hard work also brings joy and harvest! Everything, there will be a long future ahead!
blessings and hopes
The New Year's bell is about to ring. As the year 2024 is coming to an end, Aaron has grown quite a bit taller and more mature, with progress in all aspects that is delightful to see! Dear child, the road of life is long and arduous, and the journey ahead will not always be smooth sailing. As the New Year begins, our greatest wish for you is that you can be healthy every day, with a life filled with sunshine; carefree and growing strong!

“pretend to be cool”

“dress up”

Climb up

Slide down

Use force accurately

steady steps

Play the music of life well
Welcome the New Year
Christmas came, and a sister specially traveled from Shanghai to Sydney. It's even more delightful when friends visit from home! They made plans together and spent a month traveling around Australia. On the bustling streets of Sydney, on the spacious Bondi Beach, on the windy and wavy Manly Beach, in the romantic Darling Harbour...; at the popular Melbourne National Library, by the beautiful Yarra River...; atop the towering Parliament House in Canberra, by the quiet and expansive artificial lake..., they left footprints of their sightseeing and took beautiful group photos. They went to the Hunter Valley wineries together to enjoy the views and taste the wines; they stayed for a few days at a farmhouse by Lake Macquarie on the Central Coast... The gatherings were joyful, and traveling together was even more fun. The friends from Shanghai brought deep sisterhood, welcoming the arrival of 2025 together. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
