Yet, the adults in his life, consumed by their own fears and insecurities, extinguished his dreams early on. They trained him to conform, to seek safety in numbers, and to follow the paths of others.

As time passed, his dream faded into the background. His once vibrant curiosity, adventurous spirit, and boundless enthusiasm were slowly lost, and vanished into obscurity.

But dreams are never truly lost. Forgotten dreams are just buried beneath layers of frustration, indifference, escapism, depression, or addiction... until they resurface.

For Xiao Wang, all he needed was the freedom to walk his own path and fulfil his potential. To nurture his soul was his true obligation. Instead, the adults around him focused on feeding his mind with information for tests, and overfed his body with food — leaving him stressed, sluggish, short-sighted, overweight, and with poor posture.

And yet, despite his suffering, those same adults expected him to continue down a path of conformity, for reasons they do not even understand. This reality underscores a harsh truth: the “easy” road of following others is often the hardest to navigate.

Poor Xiao Wang... but his story is not unique. Countless other colorless Xiao Wangs are floating out at sea.

*

However, hope is not lost. Many teachers and parents have begun to recognize the severity of this trend. Struggling with the tension between doing what they know to be right and fulfilling their perceived social obligations of conformity, they are bravely embarking on a journey themselves.

With courage and conviction, Xiao Wang and his parents made a life-changing decision — they signed him up for the adventure of his life.

Alongside a group of other teenagers, Xiao Wang embarks on a journey; they set out with their backpacks on to rediscover themselves. Together, they would face challenges, confront their weaknesses, and embrace the risks of the road ahead. The goal? To reignite their curiosity, rediscover their adventurous spirit, and uncover their purpose — and in doing so, take ownership of the world that had previously been unaware of, and ‘protected’ from.

During the journey, the group becomes familiar with their guide — Kel. Kel uses the highs and lows of the adventure to help them confront their limitations, recognize their strengths, and uncover their hidden potential. From the towering peaks of the Nepali Himalayas to the tropical beaches of the Indian Ocean, Kel guides them through nature, culture, and psychology, revealing opportunities, ideas and a lifestyle the students had never before considered.

After six weeks of sand, sea, and sweat, Xiaowang and his friends become physically stronger, mentally sharper, and spiritually renewed.
