诗人聚焦：小记菲律宾诗人潘潘医生（Epitacio Tongohan）

24年12月8日，笔者有幸与菲律宾文学界欢聚一堂。在灯火辉煌的马尼拉Heritage 大酒店，来自菲律宾各界精英近200人，参加菲律宾皇冠集团的年度颁奖礼。菲律宾著名诗人潘潘医生及其团队”PENTASI B Worldwide Family”获得杰出贡献奖。
潘潘医生是诗歌界一位传奇人物。潘潘医生来自黎刹省塔奈市，其令人惊叹、改变人生的视觉诗歌在本地和国际文学界掀起波澜——这种视觉诗歌在全球范围内引起了广泛反响。为菲律宾诗歌界带来盛誉。潘潘医生已被提名为2025年度菲律宾国家艺术家的称号。一如医生所言，把菲律宾变成世界诗歌的中心。他与他的团队正为此而努力。
在2000年代中期，潘潘医生放弃了收入丰厚的医学事业，特别是解剖病理学，转而追求创作充满生命力和灵魂的视觉诗歌。他的团体——Pentasi B世界友谊诗歌®，成为他进入诗歌神秘世界的载体和门户。然而，他的诗歌并非仅仅是词语的编织或白日梦的产物。他运用他的医学知识以及对生命脆弱性和短暂性的深刻理解，创作出能够深刻影响读者心灵、身体和灵魂的文学作品。

Poet Spotlight: A Brief Note on Filipino Poet Dr. PanPan (Epitacio Tongohan)

On December 8, 2024, I had the privilege of joining the Philippine literary community for a grand gathering. At the splendidly illuminated Heritage Hotel in Manila, nearly 200 elites from various sectors of the Philippines attended the annual awards ceremony of the Philippines Crown Group. Renowned Filipino poet Dr. Pan Pan and his team, the "PENTASI B Worldwide Family," were honoured with the Outstanding Contribution Award.

Dr. PanPan is a legendary figure in the world of poetry. Hailing from Tanay, Rizal Province, his astonishing and life-changing visual poetry has created ripples in both local and international literary circles—gaining widespread acclaim globally and bringing great honour to Philippine poetry. Dr. Pan Pan has been nominated for the title of National Artist of the Philippines for 2025. As he once stated, his goal is to transform the Philippines into the centre of global poetry, and he and his team are working tirelessly to achieve this vision.

In the mid-2000s, Dr. Pan Pan abandoned a lucrative career in medicine, particularly in anatomical pathology, to pursue the creation of visual poetry imbued with vitality and soul. His group, Pentasi B Worldwide Friendship Poetry®, became the vessel and gateway for his exploration into the mystical realm of poetry. However, his poetry is not merely a weaving of words or the product of daydreams. Drawing upon his medical knowledge and profound understanding of the fragility and transience of life, he creates literary works that deeply touch the hearts, minds, and souls of readers.

Dr. PanPan’s works are renowned for their "5M" attributes—Multilingual, Multi-modal, Multi-perspective, Multi-sensory, and Multi-

dimensional. As previously discussed, his familiarity with the workings of the human brain and body enables him to employ a "hidden poetic technique" with precise calculation to influence and improve his audience. This is where the "mathematical and psychological" elements of his poetry shine. This unique approach has earned Dr. PanPan immense acclaim and international recognition. He has received 40 local and international awards, including the esteemed titles of "Father of Visual Poetry" and "King of Visual Poetry," conferred by various poetry organizations and institutions worldwide. To date, Dr. Pan Pan stands as one of the preeminent poets in the history of global literature.

The City Council of Tanay, his hometown, passed and signed Resolution No. 43 of 2024, officially recognizing Dr. Pan Pan’s contributions to local and global literary and cultural development and nominating him for the National Artist for Literature Award.

Let us sincerely wish Dr. PanPan success in elevating the art of visual poetry to the global stage, benefiting humanity.

Vintage Love, Understanding Love

An echoe from the brilliance of Elizabeth Barret Browning;

An echoe in silence.

A love from the depth and breadth the soul can reach;

In timeless space,

In spaceless time,

In fullest love;

In fullest emptiness,

With love older than the sea, as deep as the ocean, When feeling out of sight, at the end of being and ideal grace.

My heart is new with vintage birth. No promises of bed of roses, but a small single rose can occupy the world;

How do I love thee, will I count the ways? The heart is a lonely hunter, as well as the soul.

Vintage in way, vintage in dimension, vintage in solitude.

As the cliche murmured, love is a many splendored thing,

love unheard was loudly said, like loves in many doorsteps,

like loves in the distant sun, like loves in molds and forms. . .

To understand love, you only have to love.

爱

这是一首著名的诗，

诗歌赏析：

Editorials:

Both poems explore the essence of love from different perspectives. The first poem presents love in a philosophical and abstract manner, emphasizing its depth and eternity. The second poem, on the other hand, describes love in the context of real-life relationships, highlighting its stability and purity through concise language.

Although the two differ in form and style, both convey profound reflections on and fervent praise for love. The first poem immerses readers in a vintage romance intertwined with philosophical contemplation, making it suitable for quiet, introspective reading. The second poem, however, resembles a cup of tea, warming the heart with its straightforward and touching language.
