Unaffordable price of curing diseases

If nearly a million yuan were raised for a major surgery, but in the end, it resulted in a low-quality life of less than a month, would anyone still make such a choice? This is a vivid example in the book of Being in TCM.An elderly fellow villager approached Professor Li and said that he had discovered advanced lung cancer during a physical examination. Professor Li suggested conservative treatment. But compromised with the advice of western doctors, he still chose surgery. The reason was that western physician said the tumor was now in an advanced stage, and only through surgery could there be a chance of survival. In the end, the patient paid over 800000 yuan in medical expenses, but in exchange for less than a month of life without quality. This tragedy makes us think deeply: as doctors, what is the purpose of our treatment? The purpose of our treatment is to save lives! Some patients, when facing unbearable medical expenses, even choose to commit suicide. If the patient is gone, the treatment will lose its meaning, sadly the medicine will lose its value of existence as well!TCM often choose to improve the life quality of patients through restoring the balance of the Yin-yang.In this way, patients will feel better, and it will be easier for them to recover little by little. From this perspective, Western medicine needs to learn more from TCM,right?

材料来源:《身在中医》

翻译:谢子善

编辑:谢子善
