日本国际艺术研究院会员，北京市东城区书协会员，北京市和光书院博物馆特聘研究员，安徽大运河书画院顾问。

2023年、2024年参加日本东京美术馆第十六届、十七届国际书画大赏展，其书法作品分别获得《佳作赏》和《日中书画赏》。他长期临习古代钟繇、王羲之、颜真卿、怀素、张芝等名人法帖，从传统中汲取书法养分，从流变中拓展书法视野，从实践中提升书法技能。

书法是社会劳动和社会文明的产物。他把“书法为时而用”的观点作为书法活动的起始点。在社会实践中，经常为社会团体、社区和个人题词、题字，把书法艺术作为利人利他的工具，让书法艺术服务于社会、还原于社会。

在与书画界的社会交往中，注重学习借鉴他人，对待他人的成功作品，报以敬畏之心，取他人之长，补自己之短。

中国传统文化如星空浩瀚无垠，中国书法艺术如长江源远流长。马东方作为书法艺术的爱好者，在不断泛舟前行中，将所学所获展现给观众，以达悦人悦己之初心。
