<p class="ql-block"> Many people from China and abroad</p><p class="ql-block">believe red is the colour that</p><p class="ql-block"> represents China.Of course,they </p><p class="ql-block">must have their own reasons.Red </p><p class="ql-block">symbolises good luck and happiness</p><p class="ql-block">in Chinese culture and that's why </p><p class="ql-block">Chinese people,particularly,Han</p><p class="ql-block">Chinese people tend to adopt the red </p><p class="ql-block">colour on joyful occasions like Chinese</p><p class="ql-block">New Year and traditional wedding.And</p><p class="ql-block">the red colour for such uses is called</p><p class="ql-block">"China Red."</p><p class="ql-block"> I don't disagree with such an</p><p class="ql-block"> idea as mentioned above,but I think</p><p class="ql-block">there are two facts that we,as </p><p class="ql-block">Chinese teachers for international </p><p class="ql-block">students,need to know about.</p><p class="ql-block"> First.speaking of "China Red",I think</p><p class="ql-block">I need to let students realise the </p><p class="ql-block">culture concept of "China Red"in China</p><p class="ql-block">is nothing like what"Red China" refers</p><p class="ql-block">to in the English or international </p><p class="ql-block">context.When we say "China Red",we</p><p class="ql-block">never mean we are a left-wing or </p><p class="ql-block">radical country as some people abroad</p><p class="ql-block">misunderstand.</p><p class="ql-block"> Second,I don't think red is the</p><p class="ql-block">only colour that can reflect some parts of Chinese culture.The agriculture and</p><p class="ql-block">brightness that the yellow colour may</p><p class="ql-block">represent,the richness and hope that</p><p class="ql-block">the green colour can symbolise,the </p><p class="ql-block">depth and inclusiveness that the blue </p><p class="ql-block">colour may convey and the purity</p><p class="ql-block">that the white colour can present-</p><p class="ql-block">they can all describe some</p><p class="ql-block">characteristics of Chinese culture. </p><p class="ql-block"> In my opinion,any single colour</p><p class="ql-block">is not descriptive enough to represent</p><p class="ql-block">such a wonderful,multicultural </p><p class="ql-block">country like China.China has been a</p><p class="ql-block">multiethnic country for thousands of</p><p class="ql-block">years and she will be a colourful</p><p class="ql-block"> country in the colourfull world.</p><p class="ql-block"> </p><p class="ql-block"> </p><p class="ql-block"><br></p>
