The event</p><p class="ql-block">was held to express gratitude for all aspects of life—family, health, friendships, and</p><p class="ql-block">the invaluable contributions of healthcare teams who work tirelessly day and night to</p><p class="ql-block">provide care and support.</p><p class="ql-block">This year’s Thanksgiving gathering was an opportunity for MeHA to acknowledge and</p><p class="ql-block">show appreciation for the dedicated healthcare professionals at RBWH and celebrate</p><p class="ql-block">their ongoing efforts in the fight against cancer. MeHA’s President, Dr. Michelle Lee,</p><p class="ql-block">along with Ms. Nanette Hinsch, Director and Secretary General of MeHA, and the Board</p><p class="ql-block">of Directors, were joined by key figures from the RBWH, including:</p><p class="ql-block">• Ms. Louise Oriti, Executive Director of Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital,</p><p class="ql-block">Metro North Hospital and Health Service</p><p class="ql-block">• Prof. Glen Kennedy, Executive Director of Cancer Care Services, RBWH</p><p class="ql-block">• Ms. Simone Garske, CEO of RBWH Foundation</p><p class="ql-block">The event began with a welcoming ceremony at the RBWH Foundation Office, where</p><p class="ql-block">attendees were introduced to the Cancer Care Services Unit and taken on a tour of the</p><p class="ql-block">Car-T Cell Lab. This lab is the only facility in Queensland that provides onsite</p><p class="ql-block">manufacturing and delivery of CAR-T cell therapy, a groundbreaking treatment for</p><p class="ql-block">cancer.</p><p class="ql-block">The first section of the event featured stunning performances. Anita Huang, a highly</p><p class="ql-block">decorated Guzheng musician, performed "Conquer of Typhoon," followed by the</p><p class="ql-block">Coastal Melody Choir, conducted by Ms. Bao Guoqing, who led the choir in the</p><p class="ql-block">beautiful renditions of "Beautiful Dreamer" and "You Raise Me Up." The Ba Gua Tai Chi</p><p class="ql-block">Association Queensland also presented a graceful Mulan Double Fan performance,</p><p class="ql-block">adding a cultural touch to the celebration.</p><p class="ql-block">The second section of the event focused on donations. MeHA presented a range of</p><p class="ql-block">Christmas gifts for the cancer care staff and patients, including Sled Hampers,</p><p class="ql-block">Thanksgiving Lucky Trees, Best Wish Gift Bags, and a generous donation of $20,000</p><p class="ql-block">for the Car-T Cell research project. In recognition of MeHA's commitment to supporting</p><p class="ql-block">RBWH, Dr. Lee, Prof. Kennedy, and Ms. Garske presented Certificates of Appreciation</p><p class="ql-block">to the donors who made the event possible.</p><p class="ql-block">In a heartfelt gesture, MeHA also gifted a Big Goody Box to all RBWH Foundation staff,</p><p class="ql-block">and CEO Ms. Garske presented an "Appreciation Certificate" to MeHA and Dr. Lee on</p><p class="ql-block">behalf of the MeHA team to receive it. The event concluded with a warm expression of</p><p class="ql-block">thanks, as Ms. Garske acknowledged the invaluable contributions of MeHA in</p><p class="ql-block">supporting healthcare and the RBWH Foundation’s mission over the years.</p><p class="ql-block">As the Thanksgiving event came to a close, MeHA extended heartfelt wishes for</p><p class="ql-block">continued hope, joy, peace, and good health to everyone in attendance. They</p><p class="ql-block">expressed deep gratitude for the collective support that empowers organizations like</p><p class="ql-block">MeHA and RBWH to create lasting change in healthcare and improve the lives of</p><p class="ql-block">patients.
