<p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">My good friend Dwight Normile passed away 3 days ago. At the request of his daughter I wrote this eulogy for his memorial service. </p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">Today, we gather here to remember and celebrate the life of Dwight Normile, a dear friend and a remarkable individual. I became friends with Dwight about a decade ago. We shared countless hours on the tennis court, playing several times a week. Dwight was not just an excellent tennis player but also a dedicated and serious competitor. He ran fast for every shot, demonstrating his commitment and passion for the game. Our time on the court was filled with great moments and camaraderie that I will always cherish.</p><p class="ql-block">Beyond his athletic prowess, Dwight was a man of many talents. I will never forget the day when he and his wife, Pam, stopped by my house and presented me with a framed portrait he had painted of my wife and me. We were so pleasantly surprised by his artistic skill and the beauty of his work. I also received the portrait he drew for my daughter. Both are now hanging on the wall in our living room. They are true testaments to his creativity and dedication to his craft.</p><p class="ql-block">Dwight was also an accomplished writer. When he handed me his published novel, “Final Proof,” I was captivated from the first page. I found myself reading late into the night, eager to discover what happened next in each chapter. His storytelling was so compelling that I couldn't put the book down until I had read every word. His talent as a writer was a gift to all who had the pleasure of reading his work.</p><p class="ql-block">Dwight and his beloved wife, Pam, often welcomed my wife and me into their lovely home for dinner. We loved the food they made; it was always so delicious. These evenings were filled with joy and laughter as we shared conversations that spanned from culture to arts, from cuisine to travel. These gatherings created such fun memories that feel as vivid and delightful as if they happened just yesterday.</p><p class="ql-block">Dwight's life was marked by his kindness, talents, and the joy he brought to those around him. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the wonderful moments we were fortunate enough to share with him. His legacy will live on in our hearts and memories, forever cherished and never forgotten.</p><p class="ql-block">Rest in peace, Dwight. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will always be with us.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p>
