<p class="ql-block">In my point of view,when we teach</p><p class="ql-block"> the topic of "colours",there are four </p><p class="ql-block">important things we need to pay </p><p class="ql-block">attention to:(1)how to teach "colour"</p><p class="ql-block">words in terms of language,(2) how</p><p class="ql-block"> to introduce the cultural meaning of</p><p class="ql-block">different colours,(3)how to design </p><p class="ql-block">class activities,and(4)how to do </p><p class="ql-block">repetition and revision.</p><p class="ql-block"> First of all,when we teach,it is</p><p class="ql-block">important to set up the direct link </p><p class="ql-block">between a colour and some typical</p><p class="ql-block">objects.For example,it will be better</p><p class="ql-block">if students learn hongse and 绿色 from</p><p class="ql-block">a red apple,a heart sign,a tree or a green plant rather than from the </p><p class="ql-block">English words"red"and "green"or simple</p><p class="ql-block">shapes printed in red and green.Such </p><p class="ql-block">direct link between a colour and a</p><p class="ql-block"> physical object will help the students</p><p class="ql-block">form the habit of "meaningful</p><p class="ql-block"> association",which is vital in language</p><p class="ql-block">learning.</p><p class="ql-block"> Second,colours have different</p><p class="ql-block">connontations in different </p><p class="ql-block">connontations in different cultures,and</p><p class="ql-block">such connotations are extention of the</p><p class="ql-block">meanings of"colour"words.We need to</p><p class="ql-block">tell the students what the cultural </p><p class="ql-block">meanings of those colours are in China</p><p class="ql-block">And,from there,we can guide the</p><p class="ql-block">students to compare the different </p><p class="ql-block">cultural meanings of colours in China </p><p class="ql-block">and in their country,What's more,</p><p class="ql-block">different colours are adopted for </p><p class="ql-block">different occasions,therefore,I can </p><p class="ql-block">also guide them to find out what kind of colour will be suitable for a certain</p><p class="ql-block">occasion in China.</p><p class="ql-block"> Third ,the class activities on </p><p class="ql-block">"colours " should really involve</p><p class="ql-block">physical colours instead of the</p><p class="ql-block"> concepts of colours.Colours are</p><p class="ql-block">everywhere in our lives,and we</p><p class="ql-block"> shouldn't forget that colour is one of</p><p class="ql-block"> the key parts ofculture,so we'd </p><p class="ql-block">better make our activities colour-wise</p><p class="ql-block">or life-wise,and try to involve </p><p class="ql-block">Chinese culture.</p><p class="ql-block"> Such class activities may include</p><p class="ql-block"> .making your own opera mask or</p><p class="ql-block">designing your own flag or logo and</p><p class="ql-block">labelling the colours you use in pinyin</p><p class="ql-block">or Chinese characters;</p><p class="ql-block"> .doing "colour maths",like hongse </p><p class="ql-block">plus hoangse is chengse,or huise </p><p class="ql-block">minus heise is baise;and</p><p class="ql-block"> .colouring in a well-known</p><p class="ql-block">painting or a flag,and going further </p><p class="ql-block">or deeper to find more about it.</p><p class="ql-block"> Finally,as a part of our </p><p class="ql-block">teaching and learning,revisions and</p><p class="ql-block">repetitions should not be forgotten,</p><p class="ql-block">but when we do this with ""colours",</p><p class="ql-block">we'd better link up previous </p><p class="ql-block">knowledge "colours" and new topics.</p><p class="ql-block">For example,when we do the topics </p><p class="ql-block">of "food and drink","body parts and</p><p class="ql-block">clothes",we can naturally involve</p><p class="ql-block"> colours.</p>
