Basically,my brief introduction to a Chinese art will include two parts.

The first part is some basic information

about it and the second one is to

provide a chance for my students to

have a small bite of it.

First of all,a short presentation

covering the origin and the evolution

of the art is quite necessary, like how

it came into being,evolved,and was

shaped into today's form, and how it

plays a role in Chinese people's life

today.

In order to help the students get

some basic ideas of the art,I will

present its main features---I believe

that two or three will be just right,

because the students may find it not

easy to remember if I present too

many features.What's more,I'm

probably not an expert on that type of

art and my students are not in the

class for studying it,so it doesn't

need to be too academic.

If there are some aesthetic or

philosophical ideas or values behind

the art, they can't be left out from

my introduction.Of course,I'll try to

make it clear in simple language.

The core part of my introduction

will be the students's taste of the art.

I'll guide them to be familiar with the

tools they may use ,the rules they

need to follow, and other things they

have got to pay attention to.

When the students practice it,

apart from giving them some

necessary instructions and support,I need to ensure the safety, the

smooth advance of the activity and

the tidiness of the room. And also,I

should make sure that any sound we make won't affect any other class.

Finally,at the closing stage of

the lesson,I'll ask some students to

present what they have done or say

how they feel about the art and the

practice.I can also encourage them to

compare the Chinese art and the one

they know,such as the similarities

and differences between both arts and

how they might inspire each other.
