Walking the Camino de Santiago - The French Way D34 Muxía-Santiago

<p class="ql-block">9/30/24, cloudy/clear/rain, </p><p class="ql-block">Muxia to Santiago de Compostela, by bus</p> <p class="ql-block">This morning in Muxia, breakfast with the Canadian pilgrim. She showed me the lighthouse, the church on the rock and the milestone marking the zero kilometre in Muxia. On the other side of the town there is a sandy beach and a long wooden bridge along the coast. </p> <p class="ql-block">After lunch the sky cleared a bit and I went back to the lighthouse.</p> <p class="ql-block">Took the 15:15 bus back to Santiago. Visited Carol first, then checked into the albergue. Then I went to the Cathedral for the 7:30pm service.</p> <p class="ql-block">Staying in a single room in the monastery albergue.</p> <p class="ql-block">View of Santiago from the albergue.</p> <p class="ql-block">  I got to the entrance of the cathedral at 6.30pm today and there were only a few people queuing. I stayed long enough in the crypt with the remains of St James. I took a good look as I passed the statue to make sure it was the Golden Statue of Santiago. There were still seats available when I entered the cathedral and I was in good shape, so I really enjoyed the whole service today. Unexpectedly, I also came across the Botafureiro (swinging large incense burner) ceremony, which was a great way to end my pilgrimage on this walk.</p> <p class="ql-block">Botafureiro</p> <p class="ql-block">monastery Albergue by night.</p>
