Each person 's knowledge is only a tiny part of this circle.</p> <p class="ql-block">都说一个人见多识广,有时候封闭我们认知的,就是因为我们见得太少,这个有时候就像是一个巨大的圆圈,每个人所知道的只是这个圆圈当中小的不能再小的一部分。</p><p class="ql-block">But people often tend to be trapped in their own inherent world,unwilling to jump out of this circle.</p><p class="ql-block">但人们却常常容易在自己固有的世界里画地为牢,不愿意在这个圈子当中跳出来。</p><p class="ql-block">Ancient sages often said, 'There are always greater heights beyond the person and beyond the heavens.' One mountain is higher than the other, and Sun Wukong, despite his exceptional abilities, discovered that he couldn't escape the palm of Buddha.</p><p class="ql-block">古人常说,人外有人,天外有天,一山更比一山高,孙悟空自以为学得了绝世本领,却发现如来的手掌都逃不开。</p><p class="ql-block">Sometimes, one must venture out to understand this truth. By broadening one's horizons, one realizes their own insignificance;by encountering experts.</p><p class="ql-block">人有时候,一定要走出去,就是这个道理,见识了天地,往往才知道自己的渺小;</p><p class="ql-block">They become aware of the limitations of their own knowledge; and by encountering villains and evil, they realize that the world is notalways filled with goodness.</p> <p class="ql-block">见到了高人,才知道自身认知的局限;遇见了小人与邪恶,你才知道这个世界也并不全是只有光明。</p><p class="ql-block">There are essentially two ways to view the world: by reading thousands of books or by traveling thousands of miles.</p><p class="ql-block">看世界的方式无非两种:一种是读万卷书,一种是行万里路。</p><p class="ql-block">A person's experiences are mainly of two kinds: direct and indirect.</p><p class="ql-block">一个人所积累的经验,无非就这么两种,一个是直接经验,一个是间接经验。</p><p class="ql-block">No matter how rich a person's energy and resources may be, they are bound to miss out on the plethora of experiences life offers in its entirety. Sometimes, the most valuable way of learning is through personal experiences, but it's often impractical.</p><p class="ql-block">一个人的精力和能量,不管有多么的丰富,注定难以经历这个时间所有的精彩,即便有时候最宝贵的经历方式便就是吃一堑长一智”,但注定是行不通的。</p><p class="ql-block">Thus, learning indirectly, through one's own understanding or guidance from others, can be a beneficial way to acquire experiences. Often, a single piece of advice from someone else can be more valuable than reading books for ten years.</p> <p class="ql-block">于是,能够通过一些间接的方式,借助自己的领悟,通过一些过来人的指引,或者道听途说”往往也是获取有益经验的方式,听君一席话胜读十年书往往也是常有的事儿。</p><p class="ql-block">Reading is probably the most convenient way to understand theworld. One can read during the subway commute or before going to sleep at night. Even for giving speeches, reading is a way to accumulate the necessary materials, making it the most cost-effective method to gain wisdom and experience in life.</p><p class="ql-block">看世界最为方便的事情,我想就非读书莫属了,上班坐地铁的时候可以闲暇阅读,晚上睡觉前也可以读一读名人传记,即便是为了演讲,也可以通过读书的方式积累一些需要的素材,而读书注定是生活中获取经验智慧成本最低的方式了。</p><p class="ql-block">Hu Shih once said, 'Why do we read? First, because books carry the civilization of humankind, containing vast knowledge and experiences that we inherit when we read them;</p><p class="ql-block">胡适就曾说:“为什么要读书。胡适先生说第一,因为书承载着人类文明,记录很多知识、经验,我们读书便是接受了这份宝贵遗产;</p><p class="ql-block">Second, we read to read more. When we finish reading half of a book, the other half of the questions remain, and how can curiousity stand that? So reading leads to more reading;</p><p class="ql-block">第二,要为读书而读书,读书读一半,问题也就剩下了一半,你不解决另一半问题,好奇心是如何忍得住的,所以,是读书带动读更多的书;</p> <p class="ql-block">Third, reading helps you cope with complexity and get through difficulties, providing a source of intellectual material.'</p><p class="ql-block">第三,读书可以帮你应对复杂环境,帮你度过困境,是你思想材料的来源。</p><p class="ql-block">Reading is often the lowest investment with the highest returns,the easiest path to nobility, and the most beneficial shortcut to broaden our horizons and improve our character.</p><p class="ql-block">读书,往往是投资成本最低的方式,也是走向高贵最低的门槛,是拓宽我们眼界最有益的捷径,是修身养性的良好媒介。</p><p class="ql-block">Behind every phenomenon, there are often underlying principles,and when you are unfamiliar with them, you'll only stray further from the right direction.</p><p class="ql-block">任何一种事物,背后往往都有着运转的规律,当你不熟悉的时候,只会偏离于方向越来越远。</p><p class="ql-block">Traveling thousands of miles isn't just about sight seeing; it's about practicing, embracing growth, encountering diverse people,and elevating one's level of understanding and wisdom.</p><p class="ql-block">行万里路,不是纯粹的走着路,那只是纯粹的看风景,而是在实践的过程中,带着修行与思考的方式,接触不同的人,提升自己的认知层次、积累自身的智慧。</p> <p class="ql-block">阅世界,悦人生!</p>
