<p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;"><b style="font-size: 18px;">Welcome to the new unit: Human actions impact the environment and other living things 🌱🪸🪨</b></p><p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;"><br></p><p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;">We have started off this unit learning about recycling…</p><ol class="ql-block"><li style="text-align: center;">What is recycling? ♻️</li><li style="text-align: center;">What can we recycle?❓</li></ol><p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;"><br></p><p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;">The students of K2B have already taken great interest in this topic! We started first by asking students to explore their own community, to observe whether their own community had recycling bins and the different types that can be seen! </p><p class="ql-block"><br></p> <p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;">K2B’s first activity was to design their own recycling logo. The students came up with beautiful designs, some drawing recyclable materials and food related items! Let’s take a look… 👀</p> <p class="ql-block">Up next, K2B has been learning about the different materials that exist in our world 🌎 We looked into materials such as: wood, plastic, paper, cardboard, metal and so on. Discovering their names and familiarising with it too. </p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">After a few lessons, we then began to sort out the student’s knowledge, and focused on plastic. What is plastic? What is not plastic. </p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">The students had to sort out different images into two categories ‘plastic’ and ‘not-plastic’ </p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;"><b>Let’s take a look at their work! </b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p> <p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;"><b style="font-size: 18px;">We also used our knowledge and put it into action! The students also physically sorted out different materials into our new recycling and non-recycling bins for K2B </b></p><ul class="ql-block"><li style="text-align: center;">Food waste 🍎</li><li style="text-align: center;">Residual waste/other waste 🪨</li><li style="text-align: center;">Recyclables 📦</li><li style="text-align: center;">Hazardous waste ⚠️</li></ul><p class="ql-block"><br></p> <p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;">How lovely it has been to see the student’s interest and enthusiasm so far. When set tasks such as the one below, drawing different items into it’s respective categories. The students are very focused, and show great pride in their work </p> <p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;">Last but by no means least, here are the Children enjoying jolly phonics time.
