251);"> 去城西郊八公里有清溪七十坝焉，其东北隅有同心水驿，或曰盖因商号之名名之也。其驿始建于清乾隆元年（1763年）。余偕二三子以探其实，而访刘公于三合场喻家院之武威堂贵邸。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 刘公府邸，临平江东南岸而筑。时值春末夏初，但见堤上芳草留春，桃柳新枝，树杪云蒸，色泽新丰，娇青浅翠，翠茵堆锦，笼烟惹湿。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 余以驿源询公，公曰：驿者，置骑也，邮骑传遽之馆在四方者，自古而今皆有之。《古今注》载，尧“设诽谤之木”于康衢，形似桔槔，置纳言，以通明四方耳目。至于周，曰传、曰驲；春秋曰遽、曰邮、曰置，秦一统天下，曰邮；两汉曰驿，而魏晋之际邮、驿并称；唐时曰馆；宋时曰急递铺；元时曰站、赤；明代复曰驿；至清季复曰邮、驿。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 公曰：平江之源在平茶里，俗称水碓岩滩。旧时，民居深山，滨溪谷，去郡远者或且千里，吏事往来，辄发民乘船，名曰传役。每一吏出，徭及数家，百姓苦之。因列亭传，置邮驿，于是役省劳息。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 公曰：同心者，意为九族亲睦，万邦合和，舜日尧天，大同盛世。其驿背靠旺明，群山巍峨；襟带平江，烟波浩渺；与五拱桥隔水相望；西接巨丰，东引黄桷。水驿常备舟船，撑夫挽卒，昼夜喧呼。南来北往，道路如织。水陆所凑，货殖所萃，四方珍奇，莫此为先，藏山隐水，瑰宝溢目，商船远届，委输江左。舟舶继路，商使交属。自同心驿与复兴河汇聚，经酉水、入沅水、常德而注洞庭。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 公曰：《秀山县志》载：“平茶地坝，月旗数里，沃壤连塍，以饶衍名一县。其巨丰永丰二堰，并万金之工也，平渠引溉，利润千顷，故附郭西北诸乡，膏腴偁最。”自此无卑湿之苦，无水潦之旱，沃野数十里，土壤膏腴，人情物态，别是一方。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 刘公者，字德贵，祖居秀邑，孝溪水库首任书记、所长。年逾鲐背，而精神燿灼。公性忠纯而高洁，好吟咏，为人和乐平易，方介自守，耻为干谒。小筑临江，不肯轻履城市。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);">
