Adventures of space class: a little visit to the supermarket 🛒💴 and learning so far…

Welcome back to K2B’s newsletter! Let’s take a look at what they have been up to in the last few weeks 😁😎 K2B visit the local supermarket 💴As part of our unit, the students have been learning about the different services in our community (banks and supermarkets). In class, the students have been awarded with fake money, to spend in the classroom. For this mini trip, we asked the parents of K2B, to give their child 20 yuan, to buy whatever they wanted from the supermarket. Prior to going to the supermarket, the students created a list of what they wanted to buy, and attempt to follow when visiting the supermarket. They had to manage and calculate accordingly with 20 yuan only at the supermarket, if some items were too expensive they had to put it back, or if they spent too little they could go around the supermarket looking for the items that match the amount they had left to spend! Systems in a community : how do we get a hamburger? In this inquiry activity, the students were given photos of four different steps in receiving a hamburger. Students had to place the photos in the correct order independently, and write the order too!Step 1- Burger from the farm🐮Step 2- Transportation 🚚Step 3- Chefs cooking 👨🏼‍🍳Step 4- Eating a hamburger 🍔 Jolly phonics The students have also worked very hard in the last few weeks learning the letter sounds, blending and reading! Let’s take a look… Practicing writing letters and words 😁😁 Last but not least, the students have been busy finalising their communities. Just look at their wonderfully wild creations!
