They met on a rainy day at West Lake, fell in love and got married.<br><br>The marriage, however, was opposed by Fa Hai, an evil monk. He insisted that the union of humans and spirits was forbidden, and he imprisoned the white snake spirit in Leifeng Pagoda.<br><br>Years later, Bai Suzhen was rescued. The couple then lived happily ever after.
