<p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">Dear Family Members and Friends: </p><p class="ql-block">亲爱的家人和朋友：</p><p class="ql-block">Napoleon, my lovely 15.5 year old Tiban Terrier left us for heaven yesterday at 4pm. As I buried my face in his furry neck, I felt my dog take his very last breath. His health was declining during the past three years. He started with Thyroid Dysfunction followed by Cushing's Disease, Arthritis, Itchy Skin Rash and finally Pneumonia that gradually made him lose his energy for walks and play time. The last two days he became immobile, stopped eating, struggled to breathe, showed signs of confusion, discomfort and a lot of pain. We did not want him to suffer anymore, so Mindy and I, along with his vet, made the difficult decision to end his life at Aragon Veterinary Clinic where he went to sleep for the last time. He went quietly and peacefully.</p><p class="ql-block">拿破仑，我那可爱的15岁半的青藏壳犬已于昨天下午 4 点驾鹤西去了。当我把脸埋在他毛茸茸的脖子上时，我感觉到他咽下了最后一口气。在过去的三年里，他的健康状况每况愈下，从甲状腺功能障碍开始，然后是库欣病，关节炎、皮疹，最后得了肺炎，使他逐渐失去了散步和玩耍的精力。生前最后两天开始，他变得一动不动，停止进食，呼吸困难，表现出迷茫、不舒和剧烈疼痛的迹象。我们不想让他再受痛苦，所以杨铭和我，以及他的兽医，做出了一个艰难的决定，在阿拉贡兽医诊所结束他的生命。在那里他最后一次入眠，安然平静地离开了这个世界。</p><p class="ql-block">Napoleon was not only our family’s first dog, but also was raised from cradle to grave. He came to our family on April 3rd, 2007 when he was only a gangly 65 day old puppy. He was alert, athletic, highly intelligent and hyper dog that would greet you by flipping over for a belly rub. Every time when I’d take him to parks he would run in circles and particularly enjoyed playing on grass, especially nice well-kept grass. At times he was challenging to raise. He was fear aggressive from an early age and overly protective of the family members at times. Napoleon forced me to become a more patient and compassionate person, to work with his issues but also accept him for who he was. </p><p class="ql-block">拿破仑不仅是我们家的第一只宠物狗，而且我们陪伴了他从摇篮到坟墓的整个成长过程。他于 2007 年 4 月 3 日来到我们家，当时他还是一只瘦长的56天大的幼犬。他很机灵、爱运动、非常聪明和亢奋，见了客人就会翻过身来邀你为他的腹部做按摩。每次我带他去公园时，他都会转圈跑，特别喜欢在草地上玩耍，尤其是在打理得良好的草坪。有时他挑战性地站立起来，小时候因害怕而具攻击性，有时过度保护家庭成员。拿破仑迫使我成为了一个对狗狗更有耐心和富有同情心的人，但他也要我接受他本来的样子（他不愿改变而我要改变去适应他）。</p><p class="ql-block">Napoleon was my baby, and I was his dad. He saw me through some very difficult and tumultuous times and was a constant steady presence in my life, always there to lick away my melancholy. Napoleon was a precious gift bestowed by my destiny. I adored him and still do, in return he gave me his loyalty and devotion. He loved riding in my car and would bark and whine with excitement when arriving at his favorite parks, then sit quietly on the way home. Napoleon had warm intelligent big ball-like and captivating eyes and always had a smile and tail wag for you. We spent countless late evenings on the couch, him lying on his back getting pet and melting both of our day’s stress away until we would both fall into a peaceful sleep. </p><p class="ql-block">拿破仑就是我的一个孩子，我是他的父亲。他陪伴我度过了一段非常困难和动荡的时期，他一直在我的生活中稳定存在，用他的舌头舔去我心中的闷闷不乐。他是命运馈珍予我的珍贵礼物。我宠爱他，现在心里仍然如此。作为回报，他给了我他的忠诚和奉献。他喜欢坐我的车，到达他最喜欢的公园时会兴奋地吠叫和呜咽，然后在回家的路上安静地坐着。拿破仑有着温暖敏捷的球形和迷人的大眼睛，总是对你微笑和摆动尾巴。我们在沙发上度过了无数个深夜。他仰面躺着让我抚摸。化解了我们一天的压力，直到我们俩双双进入梦乡。</p><p class="ql-block">Having him there by my side made me happy. We loved each other unconditionally and we provided each other the safety and security of knowing we were not alone. Dogs are truly human's best friend.
