Stopping by a Woods on a Snowy Evening

雪中黄昏躇步树林边

Whose woods these are I think I know.

His house is in the village, though;

He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

我知道这是谁家的树林，

他的房屋却在村庄里面，

不会看到我曾在此躇步，

注视着他的白雪覆盖的树林。

My little horse must think it queer

To stop without a farmhouse near

Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year.

我的小马必是满怀疑惑，

为何躇足在此，附近并无农家，

两边是树林和冰冻的小湖，

在这一年中最晦暗的傍晚。

He gives his harness bells a shake

To ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sound's the sweep

Of easy wind and downy flake.

晃一下系带上的铃铛，

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

The poem seems simple, yet, it points to the reality when we make decisions in complex situations, we have to prioritize our task to fulfill our responsibilities
