To some extent , it is likeThanks Giving day in western countries. Since 2008, the Mid-Autumn Festival has been listed as a national statutory festival. On May 20, 2006, the State Council was listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists.</span></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="font-size: 15px;"> To the Chinese, the Mid-Autumn Festival means family reunion and peace.The festival is celebrated when the moon is believed to be the biggest and fullest.To the Chinese, a full moon is a symbol of prosperity,happiness, and family reunion</span></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="font-size: 15px;"> When the mid-autumn festival is near, people usually send presents such as wine, fruits and “moon cakes” to their friends and relatives. In the evening of the day, they have a feast. After a family reunion dinner， many people like to go out to admire the moon and attend special perfomances in parks or on public squares.</span></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="font-size: 15px;"> People in different parts of China have different ways to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.In Guangzhou in South of China， a huge lantern show is a big attraction for local citizens.
