Hong Lou Meng Research Centre, University of Malaya

The Dream of the Red Chamber Research Centre, University of Malaya was established on 15 December 2018. The Centre is located in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya and is attached to the Department of Chinese Studies office.

Objectives:
(1) To enhance the interest and scholarship of UM researchers in classical literature.
(2) To broaden the dissemination of translated famous classical works into the Malay language world so our Malay compatriots could better grip Chinese literature and encourage appreciation and interaction among the various ethnic groups in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
(3) To establish a platform for international exchange, strengthen the exchange of redology globally, and promote the dissemination of redology culture in Southeast Asia.

Research Areas： Classical Chinese literature, in particular, classical novels such as Dream of the Red Chamber, Journey to the West, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and other famous classical works.

Researches： The study of the spread of classical literature in Malaysia and Singapore (Malaysia-Singapore), cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia-Singapore, and the study of translation studies in classical literature.

Overview： The founder is Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, Honorary President of the Alumni Association of the Department of Chinese Studies of Universiti Malaya (Pejati) and Adjunct Professor of the department. In addition to donating rare copies of The Dream of the Red Chamber and collections of redology to the Dream of the Red Chamber Research Collection (located in the University of Malaya Library), Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy also donated a collection of Classical Literature to the Centre.

马来亚大学《红楼梦》研究中心

马来亚大学红楼梦研究中心于2018年12月15日成立，地点设于马大文学院内，与中文系办公室相连。

中心主旨：
（一）提升大马科研人员对于古代文学的兴趣与学术研究水平。
（二） 扩大古代文学名著译本在马来语系的世界传播，使友族同胞了解中华文学，促进马来西亚乃至东南亚各族群的理解与交流。
（三）建立一个国际交流的平台，加强世界各国的红学交流，推动红楼文化在东南亚的传播。

研究对象：
中国古典文学，特别是古代小说如《红楼梦》、《西游记》、《三国演义》等经典名著。

研究路向：

专注于研究古代文学在马来西亚与新加坡（马新）的流传、中国与马新文化交流，以及古典文学翻译研究。

创办缘起：
创立人是马大中文系毕业生协会荣誉会长兼马大中文系特聘教授丹斯里陈广才。丹斯里陈广才除了把《红楼梦》各珍贵版本及红学研究藏书捐赠予马大《红楼梦》资料中心(位于马来亚大学图书馆），现更将古典文学藏书赠予研究中心。

藏书现状：
现存藏书主要分为中国文学史、中国历史、中国古代小说研究、《金瓶梅》《三国演义》《西游记》《水浒传》《红楼梦》专题研究等几个部分，数量已达3000余册。藏书主要捐赠人为丹斯里陈广才、马大中文系退休讲师邬拜德拉教授、马大中文系主任潘碧华副教授、中协理事苏伟妮。

（二）热心推动社会文教活动的企业集团。目前中心已获得富贵集团（NIRVANA）董事经理丹斯里邝汉光资助一百万令吉，以及星辰建筑（FAJAR）资助一百万令吉，作为“红楼梦研究中心”的研究、行政、活动经费。
（三）赠书给予研究中心的社会人士、学者与单位。
