For the Salt Water Egg experiment you will need the following materials:

· Table salt

· Two containers

· Tablespoon

· Tap water

·1 raw eggs

Fill the two containers with tap water.
Add about 6 tablespoons of salt in one container and stir it well with a tablespoon until the salt has completely dissolved in the water.
Place this egg in each of the containers and observe this egg floats or sinks in the 2 containers.

Why does an egg float in salt water?

Because the density （密度） of the egg is higher than the density of tap water, so it sinks. the egg can float on salt water because salt has more density than an egg.

Adding salt to the water increases the density of the water, because the salt increases the mass without changing the volume very much. With enough added salt, the saltwater solution density is higher than the egg's, and the egg will then float.
