A frog is born form egg and live in the water as a tadpole.

A tadpole has gills to breathe, Then the tadpole grows legs and lungs and climbs up to land to live as a frog.

They go through several stages of life before they become adult frogs and during those stages, they live only in water.

A frog begins life as an egg. A female frog lays a lot of eggs at one time in a pond. The eggs float on water. The eggs will soon hatch into tadpoles!

Stage 2: Tadpole

When the tadpole hatches, it looks more like a fish than a frog. It doesn’t have any legs! It has gills that allow it to breathe underwater. The tadpole swims, eats plants and algae(海藻) from the water, and grows for several weeks.

During this time, the tadpole starts to develop lungs so it will be able to breathe out of the water when it becomes a frog. The tadpole also starts to grow two hind legs. Now it can leap around instead of only swimming. Although the tadpole is starting to look a little more like a frog, it still has a very long tail!

Stage 3: Young Frog

The tadpole grows two front legs and its long tail becomes shorter and shorter. The tadpole doesn't need anything else to eat ,it uses the nutrients stored as food. It hops right out of the water and onto dry land for the first time! The frog is still very small.

Stage 4: Adult Frog

The frog’s tail will eventually disappear completely and it will start to eat insects instead of plants . The young frog will grow for about 2-4 years to become an adult. The adult frogs then lay their eggs and more tadpoles hatch and begin the cycle again!

Frog vs. Toad

Frog and Toad Facts

what is Difference between Frog and Toad?

For some people, distinguishing frogs from frogs can be a bit difficult; since they are quite similar. These two amphibians are well known, mainly because they are much mentioned elements in children’s stories, television and in the histories that are counted in each culture: the toad that after being kissed becomes prince, the frogs and frogs used by witches as ingredients for their spells.

If you’ve ever seen a frog or toad hopping around near your home, you‘ve probably heard that distinct croak they are well known for.

What you may not know is that frogs and toads are quite different from one another, despite being in the same animal group.

Where do they live?

One big difference between frogs and toads is that frogs need to live near water to survive, while toads do not.

Frogs are typically found on all continents of the world and like to live in creeks, ponds, swamps, trees, and rain forests.

Toads can live further away from water sources.

What do they eat?

When frogs and toads are just tadpoles they have a vegetarian diet. As they grow older and their nutritional needs change, frogs and toads will begin eating insects, worms, spiders, and even slugs or snails.

Frogs have very tiny teeth in their upper and lower jaw but do not use them for chewing food – instead they swallow their food whole. Toads are similar in this regard.

Frogs do not chase after their prey, but instead wait for it to come to them. Their tongue is used to catch their prey.

What do they look like?

There are many differences in the appearance of frogs and toads. Frogs have smoother skin than toads do. They also have a narrower body than toads do. They also have more powerful and longer legs than toads.

One way to spot the difference between frogs and toads is to watch them jump. Due to their more powerful hind legs, frogs can jump longer and further forward than toads can.Toads will typically run very quickly or take short hops instead of high jumps.

Fun Facts About Toads & Frogs

Frogs have more predators than toads do despite being larger creatures. This is because the skin of a toad has a bitter taste and smell which can burn the eyes and nostrils of their enemies.

This smell is somewhat similar to that of a skunk.

Some larger frogs eat mice, rats, lizards, snakes,

small birds, and even other frogs!

Frogs depend on water for everything from eating to breathing. Frogs do not drink water, but they do absorb it through their skin.

We should be very thankful for these slimy creatures. Frogs and toads are very helpful to use humans because they eat so many harmful insects every year.
