Let's put the eggs back in the box and cover two-third(三分之二) of the egg with vermiculite蛭石. </p><p class="ql-block">The box is filled with vermiculite.</p><p class="ql-block"> We must keep the eggs warm.</p><p class="ql-block"> The eggs will hatch between 20 to 30 degree, and the thermometer(温度计) tells us the temperature.</p><p class="ql-block"> Where should we put our eggs? We should not put them under direct sunlight. The strong sunlight could crack the eggs.</p><p class="ql-block"> We have to spray the eggs twice or three times a day to keep them moist. Don't spray too much though!</p><p class="ql-block"> Remember always to close the lid.</p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(237, 35, 8);">四、观察龟蛋</b></p><p class="ql-block">We can find out if the eggs are hatching soon by observing the shells.</p><p class="ql-block">Look! We can see faint red through the shell, which means the eggs will hatch in 12 days!</p><p class="ql-block">用强光照射龟蛋两头,可隐约看到血丝,这时距离乌龟出壳还有12天</p><p class="ql-block">Look! Both ends appear dark, which means the egg will hatch in 10 days!</p><p class="ql-block">龟蛋两头出现黑色,距离出壳还有10天</p><p class="ql-block"> We can see faint cracks on the shell, which means the egg will hatch in a week!</p><p class="ql-block">当龟壳出现裂纹,距离出壳还有7天</p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(237, 35, 8);">五. 见证龟宝宝诞生</b></p><p class="ql-block">Come look! The baby turtle is hatching! It is so cute!</p><p class="ql-block"> A baby turtle is called a hatchling!</p><p class="ql-block">Can you identify the species of this turtle?</p><p class="ql-block"> Is it a Yellow-bellied Turtle( 巴西龟) Chinese Pond Turtle(草龟) or a Chinese Striped-neck Turtle?</p><p class="ql-block"> It usually takes 2-3 days for the baby turtle to be completely hatched.</p><p class="ql-block">During this time,it's absorbing(吸收) the last of the egg yolk(蛋黄)sack attached to its belly.</p><p class="ql-block">这段时间,它在吸收自己肚脐卵黄的营养</p><p class="ql-block"> We mustn't touch it until they've fully absorbed the yolk sack.</p><p class="ql-block">我们千万不要碰它直到卵黄完全吸收</p><p class="ql-block"> We should bake the water under the sun for a few days before adding it to the vivarium. </p><p class="ql-block">给乌龟的水需要晒过几天</p><p class="ql-block"> We can feed the turtles after 2-3 days.</p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(237, 35, 8);">六、乌龟科普笔记</b></p><p class="ql-block"> Did you know?</p><p class="ql-block"> Turtles carry their home on their back!</p><p class="ql-block"> <i style="color: rgb(237, 35, 8);">Can you think of any other animals that carry their home on their back?</i></p><p class="ql-block"> Snail. Hermit crab.</p><p class="ql-block"> <i style="color: rgb(237, 35, 8);">Why do you think they have a hard shell? What is it for?</i></p><p class="ql-block"> Their hard shells protect them from predators (捕猎者). When other animals try to eat them, they hide in their shells.</p><p class="ql-block"> <i style="color: rgb(237, 35, 8);">For many turtles, the sex of the hatchlings is determined by temperature not genetics(基因).</i></p><p class="ql-block"> High temperatures(35) will yield mostly females.
