1.The origin of Arbor Day—in foreign countries In order to protect forest resources,beautify the environment and maintain ecological balance, many countries in the world have set up Arbor Day according to their actual situation.

Among these countries, the United States has the earliest tree-planting day, more than 130 years old.

On April 10, 1872, the first American Arbor Day was initiated by a journalist from Nebraska. More than 1 million trees were planted across the state of Nebraska内布拉斯加州. It is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees.

In different countries, Planting Trees Days are on different days. Like in India, Planting Trees Day is on July 1.

2.The origin of Arbor Day In ancient China, there was a tradition of planting trees in the Qingming Festival. The earliest tree-planting on the roadside was first initiated by a man named wei xiaokuan from shaanxi more than 1400 years ago.

In1979,China officially designated March 12 as "Arbor Day". Encourage individuals and teams to plant and care for trees and protect the environment.

Choosing a tree based on its recommended zone will give it the best chance of survival, however it does not guarantee that the tree will succeed.
There are other factors such as soil type, moisture levels, sun exposure, drainage, and humidity that can have an effect on the life of the tree.

Be sure to check the specific requirements for your chosen tree and compare that with the environment you are planting it in.

5.2Planting the trees After choosing the best tree for you, it is time to plant the tree. Here is a quick step-by-step guide to plant your new tree.

1）Dig a large hole where you want the tree to go. Make sure the hole is at least two times as wide as the root ball and deep enough for the root ball to fit so the top is slightly above with the surrounding ground.

2）Carefully position the tree in the hole. Be sure that tree is facing the direction that you want it to and remove any ties or burlap粗麻布 that came attached to the tree root 3）Fill in the remaining space. Add loose soil and organic matter (optional) to the space leftover. Try not to add too much to one side, forcing the tree to tilt in one direction. You want it to grow straight and tall.
4）Attach the tree to a stake标桩. Stick a stake into the ground and through the root ball. Then attach it loosely to the trunk of the new tree.
5）Water, water, water. Newly planted trees require more than more established trees. Water the new tree every day for the first few weeks.
5.3Taking good care of the trees If you would like to show appreciation for the trees around you, here are some tips for how to properly care for trees.
1）Cover the base and roots of a tree in three to five inches of mulch护根(用以保护植物根基、改善土质或防止杂草生长). This will help insulate [ˈɪnsəleɪt] 使隔热it from extreme temperatures, slow the evaporation [ɪˌvæpəˈreɪʃn] 蒸发of water, and hinder 阻止weed growth.
2）Depending on the temperature and environment, a tree should be watered every one to two weeks. More frequent watering is needed for new trees. Mature trees need a good watering about every month. If there is extreme heat, then water more often.
3）Make sure the tree is getting adequate water, but do not overdo it either. There are a few ways you can check to see if a tree is getting enough water and those are by using a moisture probe探测仪, tool, or shovel to dig about 12 inches into the soil.

If the soil is damp about 6-12 inches below the surface then your tree is well-watered. If the soil is dry and crumbly脆的, then more water is needed. If the soil is soggy, then that tree is getting too much water, which can block oxygen and eventually kill the roots.

4）Check leaves for signs of drought: wilting, curling, yellowing, or browning.
5）Clear any weeds or grass around the base of the tree. Other plants steal valuable resources from the tree.
6）Do not use pesticides [ˈpɛstəˌsaɪdz]杀虫剂 or herbicides [ˈɜrbəˌsaɪdz]除草剂on young trees. This can permanently damage the root system.
7）Regular pruning[ˈpruːnɪŋ] 修剪树枝is essential. Trim any dead or diseased branches that you see on a tree.
Keep an eye out for tree pests and diseases.
