Come on!</p><p>……</p> <p><b>Activity 2: Supplementary-Turnip</b></p><p>Turnip:</p><p>A turnip is a type of vegetable called a root vegetable. This means it grows mostly below the ground with only its leaves growing above.</p><p>There are different types of turnip, the most common one is called the Purple top turnip. This turnip root is mostly white, but the top is purple from where the sun touched the skin.</p><p>The second most common type of turnip is called a Swede or Amber globe. This turnip root grows completely underground and its insides are a pale yellow color</p><p>Turnip leaves can be eaten as well and are known as turnip greens. Some turnips are grown only for their leaves and have very small roots. These include rapini(broccoli rabe), bok choy and Chinese cabbage</p><p>How to cook turnip:</p><p>Sauté: Peel and cut the turnip into slices. Fry in a pan with some olive oil</p><p>Roast: Peel and cut the turnip into chunks. Put them on a tray and cook in a hot oven until tender</p><p>Mash: Peel and cut the turnip into chunks. Place them into a pot of hot</p><p>water to cook until soft. Drain away the water and mash them</p><p>Blend: Peel and cut the turnip Into chunks. Cook in hot water but this time add some stock to the water. When soft, blend the whole thing together. You can also add other vegetables.
