Narrator: This is the story of three tadpoles. They are small, round and black and they live in a pond.

Tadpole 1: We are happy little tadpoles living in this pond.

Tadpole 2: It's a lovely place to live and we’ve never been beyond.

从未去过更远的地方。

Tadpole 3: We live together happily. We care for one another. But there’s one thing we do not have. We do not have a mother.

Tadpole 1: Oh， where is our mother？ I miss her so much. Let’s go and look for her.

Mrs Duck and her three ducklings enter.入场

Mother Duck: Good morning, little tadpoles. Tell me, how are you?今天过得怎么样？

Tadpole 2: We don’t know where our mother is. We don’t know what to do.不知道该怎么办？

Tadpole 3: Do you know where our mother is? She just cannot be found.我们找不到她。

Mother Duck: You must go and look for her. Her eyes are big and round.

Tadpole 1: Thank you so much, Mrs Duck. We’ll set off right away.马上出发。

Mother Duck: I hope that you can find her before the end of day.今天就能找到她。

Tadpole 2: Oh, look. I think I see her. Is that our mum I see? With big round eyes and a tail. She looks just like me.

Tadpole 1: We’ll keep looking round the pond. Let’s try the other side.

Mrs Turtle: Hello, little tadpoles. I don’t want to be mean. But I’m sure your mum is green. I hope that you can find her. You might see her catching flies.

Tadpole 2: Well then, we must keep looking. Let’s not give up, guys.

Mother Frog: My children, oh my children. At last we’ve found each other.

Tadpole 3: Mummy, mummy, mummy. We’re as happy as can be. Now that we’re together. We are one big family.

Tadpole 1: You’re beautiful and green. With a mouth for catching flies. And four strong legs for jumping. And lovely big round eyes.

Tadpole 2: But if we are your children, why don’t we look like you?

Mother Frog: Look down in the water and you’ll see that you do.

The tadpoles look at their reflections in the water and see that they are now frogs.倒影

Narrator: The three tadpoles are now frogs, just like their mother. They have four legs, big round eyes and they like to eat flies. And they are the perfect shade of green. They all live happily ever after.

How to Make a Paper Boat

Grab a piece of letter sized paper. Fold it in half lengthwise纵向的, then open it up again.

Next, fold it width-wise横向的,

and rotate旋转 the paper so the fold is at the top.

Take each of the top corners and fold them downwards so that the edges line up with the center fold.

Take one layer of the bottom flap and fold it upwards.

Flip the folded paper over. There should be two little flaps showing behind the triangle shape. Fold those flaps over on a diagonal.

Take the remaining bottom flap and fold it upwards.

Pick up the folded paper and place your thumbs into the opening at the bottom. Slowly pull your thumbs apart from one another, pulling the paper apart as you go. When you finish pulling, the paper should be flat.

Run your fingers along all of the folds, pressing to make sure it's completely flat and all the edges are folded.

Pick up the folded piece of paper. At the top point, pull apart the 2 sides of folded paper. As you pull it apart, it should open up into the shape of a boat.

Adjust the paper if needed to make sure it's boat-shaped, then pinch along the bottom edges to make a fold on each side.

Now your paper boat is complete!‘

Do Paper Boats Float in Water?

Yes! These boats will float in water. But since they’re made out of paper, they can really only go in the water once. The boats should last in water for at least 10 minutes before they get waterlogged. Once they’re soaked with water, it will be hard to keep them upright, and they might even sink.

If you want them to last longer in the water, add a layer of tape to the bottom of your boat to make it waterproof.

What Kind of Paper Do You Need to Make a Paper Boat?

I find it easiest to use regular printer paper or construction paper, since most people have those at home already. Printer paper comes in all sorts of fun colours, or you can colour or draw on white paper to add colour to your boat.

You can also use origami paper if you have it. You just have to cut it to make sure the proportions are right, since most origami paper is square.

Want your boat to last longer in the water? Try making it from waxed paper or aluminum foil to make a waterproof boat!

Can You Put Things in the Paper Boats?

Sort of. If you’re planning to put your boats in water, whatever you put into the boats has to be really light otherwise the boats will tip over. You could cut our paper people to put in your boats… or possibly teeny tiny toys. But I can’t promise that the boats will stay upright in the water with toys in them.

If you’re playing with the boats on the floor (and not in the water), you can load them up with all sorts of fun, small toys. Try Lego figures, small Hatchimals or even Polly Pockets!
