小猫咪初见满月

It was Kitten's first full moon.

When she saw it, she thought,

There' a little bowl of milk in the sky.

And she wanted it.

译文

小猫咪初次见到圆月时，就把它当成了它所需要的那小碗牛奶挂在了天上。

So she closed her eyes and stretched

her neck and opened her mouth

and licked.

于是它就闭上它的眼睛，伸长它的脖子，张开它的嘴巴，用它的舌头舔舐着。

But Kitten only ended up 

with a bug on her tongue.

Poor Kitten!

然而可怜的小猫咪，也只能用它的舌头舔舐，其结果也没能把奶喝到嘴里。

Still, there was the little bowl of milk,

Just waiting.

译文

一直就这样，这碗牛奶仍就静静的在那里放着(等着它)。

So she pulled herself together

and wiggled her bottom

and sprang from the top step of the porch.

于是小猫咪扭动着尾巴和屁股将它的整个身子从台阶的高处扑了过去。

But Kitten only tumbled–

bumping her nose and banging her ear

and pinching her tail.

Poor Kitten!

还好，可怜的小猫咪俯仰着，只是撞到了它的鼻子、耳朵和它的尾巴。

那碗牛奶依旧放在那里。

So she ran to the tallest tree she could find,

and she climbed and climbed and climbed

to the very top.

于是它爬着爬着就跑到树的最顶端。

But Kitten still couldn't reach the bowl of

milk, and now she was scared.

Poor Kitten!

What could she do?

可是小猫咪仍然没有达到那碗奶的高度。可怜的小猫咪你现在还能一做些什么呢？

Then, in the pond, Kitten saw

another bowl of milk.

And it was bigger.

What a night!

然后小猫咪又看到另一碗奶在河边的夜色里。

So she raced down the tree

and raced through the grass

and raced to the edge of the pond.

She leaped with all her might…

于是小猫咪从树上爬下来，窜过草丛，来到河边，纵身向那碗牛奶扑去…

Poor Kitten!

She was wet and sad and tired

and hungry.

可怜的小猫咪！掉进河里。它浑身湿透了，又气又累又饿。

So she went back home .

于是，它就回家了。

and there was a great bowl of milk

on the porch,

just waiting for her.

在台阶上，有一大碗牛奶，就是它想像和期待着的那碗。
