Baby bird met a kitten,

“Are you my mother? ”

the baby bird asked a kitten .

译文

(鸟宝贝在寻找妈妈的路上)它遇见了一只小猫咪“你是我的妈妈吗？”鸟宝贝问小猫咪。

The kitten just looked and looked .

It did not say a thing .

译文

小猫咪就这么看了看(眼前的鸟宝贝)它听不明白(鸟宝贝在)说什么。

注：这里“just”用来表示强调语气。

Baby bird met a hen .

“Are you my mother? ”

the baby bird asked a hen .

“No , ” said the hen .

译文

鸟宝贝又遇见了一只母鸡，“你是我的妈妈吗？”鸟宝贝向母鸡问道。

“不是，”母鸡回应。

Baby bird met a dog .

“Are you my mother ?”

the baby bird asked a dog .

译文

鸟宝贝遇见了一条狗。“你是我的妈妈吗？”鸟宝贝向狗问道。

“I am not your mother . 

I am a dog , ” said the dog .

译文

“我不是你的妈妈 。我是狗，”狗回应着。

Baby bird walked and met a cow ,

“Are you my mother?”

the baby bird asked a cow .

“How could I be your mother ? ”

said the cow.“I am a cow .”

译文

鸟宝贝继续向前走，他又遇见了一头牛。“你是我的妈妈吗？”鸟宝贝向牛问道，“我怎能是你的妈妈呢？我是牛。”

The baby bird stopped to think .

The kitten and the hen were not his mother .

The dog and the cow were not his mother .

译文

鸟宝贝停下来想，小猫咪和母鸡不是他的妈妈：狗和牛也不是他的妈妈。

“I have a mother ,” said the baby bird .

“I know I do . I will find her . I will . I WILL !”

译文

鸟宝贝说“我肯定有妈妈，”“我知道我这么做，我一定能找到妈妈，我能，我一定能！”

Just then the baby bird saw a big thing .

“You are my mother !”he said .

The big thing said “SNORT ! ”

译文

就在这时，鸟宝贝看见一个大家伙。“你是我的妈妈！”鸟宝贝说。这个大家伙说，“哼，笑话!”

“Oh , no ! ” said the baby bird .

“You are not my mother .

You are a scary Snort !”

译文

“噢，不是”鸟宝贝说。“你不是我的妈妈，你是一个挖掘机！”

The Snort lifted the baby bird up , up , up .

译文

挖掘机抬举起鸟宝贝，一点一点往上升。

Then something happened .

The Snort put the baby bird

right back in the tree .

The baby bird was home !

然后，意想中的事发生了。挖掘机把鸟宝贝放回这棵树上，鸟宝贝的鸟窝(家)！

Just then the mother bird came back .

“ I know who you are , ” said the baby bird .

“You are not a kitten or a hen or a dog .

You are not a cow or a Snort ! ”

“You are a bird ,

and you are my mother ! ”

译文

正巧这时鸟妈妈也飞回来了。（它嘴里还刁着一条虫子）“我知道你是谁，”鸟宝贝说，“你不是小猫咪，不是母鸡，不是狗狗，你也不是牛，更不是挖掘机！”，“你是我的鸟妈妈！”
