由于该桥桥位海拔高达3300米，后期维修养护十分困难，加之该地区高寒、大温差、强紫外线、气候干燥、无污染、生态脆弱。因此，大桥主材首次采用了免涂装耐候钢，“该钢材‘裸露’在自然环境下，外表面会自动形成氧化保护层，可起到长期的防腐效果”
