Atlanta is the capital of the U.S. state of Georgia. It played an important part in both the Civil War and the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. 

Downtown is home to the World of Coca-Cola, a museum dedicated to the iconic soft drink, the headquarters for the news-gathering agency CNN, Chick-Fil-A College Football Hall of Fame, Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Botanic Garden, Mercedez-BenzStadium, State Farm Arena, and Centennial Olympic Park.

The College Football Hall of Fame is a hall of fame and interactive attraction devoted to college football. The National Football Foundation (NFF) founded the Hall in 1951 to immortalize the players and coaches of college football.

Centennial Olympic Park was created as a 21-acre gathering spot for visitors and residents to enjoy during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. 

The World of Coca-Cola is a museum, located in Atlanta, Georgia, showcasing the history of The Coca-Cola Company. 

The 20-acre (81,000 m2) complex opened to the public on May 24, 2007, relocating from and replacing the original exhibit, which was founded in 1990 in Underground Atlanta. There are various similar World of Coca-Cola stores in locations such as Las Vegas and Disney Springs.

The museum was inspired to serve as a continuation of Coca-Cola history dating back to 1886. During this time, Dr. John S. Pemberton, a pharmacist from Atlanta, created a unique soft drink with a specific flavour syrup that was highly popular. 

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It serves as the home of the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL) and Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer (MLS). In 2017, Mercedes-Benz Stadium claimed the record for the world's largest video board at 62,350 square feet (5,793 m2), and is one of five stadiums in the NFL with a retractable roof.

The Flair is a bronze statue in Atlanta, Georgia by artist Richard MacDonald finished in 1996 before the 1996 Summer Olympics. 

Drum Corps International Southeastern Championship competition is held at Mercedez Benz Stadium.

State Farm Arena (formerly Philips Arena) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Atlanta, Georgia. The arena serves as the home venue for the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s Atlanta Hawks and the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)'s Atlanta Dream.

The CNN Center opened in 1976 as the Omni Complex.

Pittypat’s Porch was named after Scarlett O’Hara’s aunt in the film, “Gone with the Wind.” The restaurant was named after Aunt Pittypat not only because of the notoriety it ensued but the personality of her character. She was shown to be a gracious hostess not only to Scarlett but to Melanie and other visitors, especially on her grand porch.

Piedmont Park is an urban park in Atlanta, Georgia, located about 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Downtown. Originally the land was owned by Dr. Benjamin Walker, who used it as his out-of-town gentleman's farm and residence. He sold the land in 1887 to the Gentlemen's Driving Club (later renamed the Piedmont Driving Club), who wanted to establish an exclusive club and racing ground for horse enthusiasts. The Driving Club entered an agreement with the Piedmont Exposition Company, headed by prominent Atlantan Charles A. Collier, to use the land for fairs and expositions and later gave the park its name.

Piedmont Park 5K Run
