Post-Painted Pottery is the hope for a local living culture vital enough to create new original work that speaks with its own voice not simply imitating tradition or echoing contemporary global culture. This project attempts to nurture this possibility by engaging local material for the production of works of art. Where could a living culture develop new expressions? The village is where living culture last resided in the traditions of folk culture that struggled against extinction in a modernizing world. Maybe in the rural rhythms of the rivers and farms, gardens and hills a new reconfigured local culture can develop servicing the fundamental needs of human existence. With this in mind our project is working with Professor Liu Xiao Hu and Qing Cheng village reflecting on the natural beauty and resources of this location and what benefits it might have for those who choose to visit.

Thanks to the efforts of faculty and students, these works have been produced in the LZCU studios.
