My first day at senior high

Good morning, dear judges. I'm number one of English group. Today my topic is my first day at senior high. I will begin this class from the following parts: Analysis of the teaching material Analysis of the students, Teaching aims, Key&Difficult points, Teaching& Learning methods, Teaching procedures and Blackboard design.

First of all, lets talk about the teaching material. The passage presents us what a new comersees and feels at the first day at senior high. It is close to the real life of students. So it will surely arouse their interest in the class activities. By studying this lesson can get a general idea of how to express about their thought about school life. And also improve their reading and speaking skills.

Next is about the student. After many years of English learning, Senior high students can express their thoughts and are eager to get more knowledge. They can on the passage for a long time and they have got a better reading and comprehension ability. According to the new curriculum standard and teaching material, I set the following teaching aims as follows.

No. 1 Knowledge aims:

students will get an understanding of the paspassage. Students will learn the phrases and the ob jective words just like, amazing, amazed.

NO.2 Ability aims:

let student to express their thought of school life; improve their reading ability especially the skimming and scanning ability.Train student to study by themselves and cooperation.

No. 3 Emotional aims:

Guide students to love their new school and increase their interest in study at senior high. Cultivate their sense of serious attitude of study. The important point is the usage of phrase and ob jective words. At the same time student will have a better understanding of the passage Their difficult points are how to describe their new school with the words and phrases they learned from this lesson. To help student achieve the teaching aims much easier, I will mainly use the task based teaching method, communicative approach and so on. For student, I will ask some living questions and encourage them to communicate with each other. So they can become real host of the class. According to the analysis above, the teaching procedures are as follows:

Stepl. Lead in

I will greet student by asking: whether they like their senior high or not? And why? Because this lesson is so close to the real life-the new life at senior high, this activity will lead a preparation of the following study.

Step2.Pre-reading

In the last activity, students have mentioned their school life at senior high. This time I will ask them two questions: what are the main difference between junior high and senior high. Are senior high teachers similar to junior high teachers? Let students think about these two questions. In this way, I can attract student's attention to the content of the passage.

Step3.Reading

While reading Students will have 3-5 minutes to scan the passage. And then, they will get the main idea of each paragraph on the screen. In order to save time, I will invite student to find the answer by only reading thefirst and the last sentences of each paragraph. Sothey can understand the passage quickly. Then guidestudent to read the passage carefully and try to findmore detailed information. At first, I will ask themto answer the first question: What are the main dif-ference between this school and Lisa s junior high?Students will give the answers and I will present theanswers on the blackboard. This can help student to understand the structure of the passage. Then studentswill read the passage again with some questions. Forexample, why does Li Kang think the class rooms areamazing? Students will find the answers and discussin groups. Later, students will give their answers bydescribing a picture on the screen. After this activity I will ask students to notice the word amazing by the sentence and show another word amazed and letstudent guess the difference of them. After . learningthe differences between these two words, the studentwill complete the sentences with the objective wordsjust like: amazing, amazed, embarrassing embarrassed. .In this way they can master the usage of the objective words. At last, students will tell the main ideaof each paragraph in their own words. Through careful reading students can get a general idea of howto express their thought about school life. And alsoimprove their reading abilities.

Step 4 Post-reading

Student will have an impression about the question: What are the differences and similarities between your school and Li Kang s junior high. Thenstudents will discuss in groups, this can help stu-dents benefit their spoken English.

Step 5 Summary and Homework

Students will summarize the passage with the key wordsand notes and retell the outline of the passage, thiswill help Ss benefit their spoken English. After classSs will design a poster about their new school. This is very necessary for them to. consolidate this lessonand also guide them to love their new school.

At last, let me talk about the blackboard design.My blackboard design is quiet simple and clear; itwill help student master the passage well.
