• How to identify insects

There are many kinds of insects living all around us.

They dont all look alike. But there's a way to tell if something is an insect or not.

Look at this two pictures.

Count its legs and count how many parts make up its body.

All insects bodies are divided into 3 parts: head thorax and abdomen

There are 6 legs attached to the thorax. Anything that has six legs and three distinct body parts is an insect.

Spiders are not insects

People sometimes assume 设想that spiders are insects. But in fact, they are relatives of insects. They are part of a group called arachnids/əˈræknɪd/ 蛛形纲 （Other arachnids include scorpions/ˈskɔːpɪən/ 蝎子, ticks扁虱, mites螨虫，and harvestmen/ˈhɑːvɪstmən/ 盲蜘蛛. This chart compares the five major differences between spiders and insects. .

There are many difference between spiders and insects .for example：

1. insects have six legs while spiders have eight,  
2. insects eat various foods while spiders primarily eat insects, 
3. insects have antennae while spiders do not 
4. insects often have wings and spiders never have Wings.
5. insects have three sections while spiders have two sections:cephalothorax/ˌsɛfələʊˈθɔːræks/头胸部 and abdomen
6. Insects have two compound eyes(each made up of many tiny eyes) while spiders have up to eight individual eyes.
