Marching  is different from parade, 

A parade is a procession [prəˋsɛʃən] 队伍 of people, usually organized along a street, often in costume [ˋkɑstum]，and often accompanied 相伴  [əˈkʌmpənɪ] by marching bands游行乐队/仪仗队, floats花车，or sometimes large balloons. 

A parade is for a public celebration of a special day or event, usually with bands in the streets and decorated vehicles and the people dress up some characters.

But marching refers to the organized, uniformed steaty and rhythmic /ˈrɪðmɪkəl/有节奏的 walking forward usually associated with military troops! Like this, walk with stiff 严厉的/坚硬的 /stɪf  / and regular steps like a soldier  while swinging your arms

When we march we should stand straight.We all raise the same leg at the same time.Our arms swing at the same time.We march in a group in straight lines and side by side.并排并肩

本来打算去城隍庙的，雨不小，又怂了。眼看年就过完了，就着过年习俗视频，查视频查图片把以下大致过一遍。

Baby new year is coming. people have a long list of things to do from one week before the New Year festival to Lantern Festival.

Today i will take you to temple fair on which shows how people spend the New Year.

Do you want to go to the temple fair to eat snacks, buy toys, watch traditional Chinese shows and play games?you will see shadow puppet shows,paper cutting, you can also taste Rice dumplings  as well.

Decorations 张灯结彩

Mom:During the Lantern Festival, people hang up colourful lanterns in their courtyards/ˈkɔːtˌjɑːd/庭院, play Yangko and set off fireworks. Look,red lanterns are found everywhere in streets and alleyways, which light up the festive atmosphere and bring people the enjoyment of beauty

Mom: Are you excited that daddy and I are taking you to the temple fair?

Child: Yes! Look, they've hung up all the pinwheels.

Mom: As well as the red lanterns and Chinese knots.

Do you know why they are all red?

Child: Because the monster Nian is afraid of the color red.

Mom: Bingo!

Mom: This year is the Year of the Pig. So pig images appear on the New Year decorations.Can you tell me the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. They are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. You are born in the year of goat.

Parade 游行队伍

Lantern Festival is almost coming. All kinds of activities are organized, such as lantern riddles, Yangko dances, lion dances, stilt walking and firework cracking. 人们组织各种各样的活动，例如： 猜灯谜、扭秧歌、舞狮子、踩高跷、放鞭炮等。

On Lantern Festival people go outside to have a look at the lanterns and guess the riddles on the lanterns. Perhaps you call see some wonderful folk performances,噢Dragon Dance and Yangko. 在元宵节这天，人们都出来看灯笼和猜灯谜，也许你还能看见一些精彩的民间表演龙舞和秧歌。

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and beating drums while dancing will be staged.

随着时间的推移，元宵节的活动越来越多，白天有耍龙灯、耍狮子、踩高跷、划旱船扭秧歌、打太平鼓等传统民俗表演

Child: Mom, how come they're so tall?

Mom: Because they're walking on the stilts.

Can you see the performer on the stilts?The stilts have two long piece of wood which have steps on the side for theperformers to stand on，So they can walk above the ground.

Mom: They're dressed up in Beijing Opera costumes.京剧戏服Do you recognize any of them?

Child: I see Sun Wukong.

Mom: Here comes the next group.

Child: What dance are they doing?

Mom: They're doing the Yangko dance, which is a traditional folk dance in the North.The Yangko dance is a traditional folk dance of the Han Chinese, commonly performed in the northern provinces. 秧歌舞是中国汉族的一种传统民间舞蹈，通常在北方省份表演。

Yangko is a folk dance popular in China. In a Yangko Dance, the performers would put on the costumes of strong color contrast/ 'kɒntrɑːst/对比, including red, blue, yellow and green, and dance in the sound of gongs 锣and drums to express their mood of pleasure and longing for a better life.

Child: Mommy, they look so funny.

Mom: Yes, the big-headed boys and girls always smile at us.

Child: What dance are the ladies doing?

Mom: They're doing a fan dance.扇子舞。

Mom: The parade is coming.Can you see?

You can sit on daddy's shoulders.

Mom: The first one is a dragon dance.

Do you know how many people are holding the dragon from underneath?

Child: Too many. It's so hard to count.

Mom:we are the descendents [di'sendent]] of the dragon.龙的传人

Chinese dragon have deer horn, camel head, rabbit eye, cow ear, snake body, fish scale, eagle claw.

Playing dragon dances in the spring will hopefully bring people favourble /ˈfeɪvərəbəl/ 有利的 weather

春节舞龙，寓意风调雨顺。

One person uses a treasure bead to lead the dragon.

舞龙在一名持＂宝珠＂者的引导下进行。

Mom: The next performance is the lion dance.

One person is the lion head and the other person is the lion tail.

Mom: What do you want to be if you perform the lion dance?

Child: I want to be the head.

Mom: Alright, no problem!

Child: Is that man the emperor?

Mom: Yes and no.

He is an actor.

He is dressed as a Qing Dynasty Emperor and is going on a rite 仪式/惯例to the Goddess of the Earth.祭地

Child: The parade is finished.

Mom: Yes, let's give them a round of applause.

The applause burst from the crowd. 人群中爆发出掌声。

Red packet

When elders give you lai see / a red packet / a little red envelope / hong bao, you have to say Happy Chinese New Year.

Tapping drum（太平鼓）

people usually beat drum to makes sounds in order to drive monster away.

laba porridge

the laba porriage contains ingredients：rice/red beans/millet小米/sorghum /ˈsɔːɡəm/高粱/dried lotus seeds/dried dates/ chestnut meat/walnut  meat/peanut  and some other ingrients. the porriage should be boild for many hours

laba garlic

in north China. there is a custom of pickling garlic in vinger on laba day. after some pickling, the garlic will turn green. this pickled garlic goes very well with dumplings

 The "fu"character

The character fu means good furturn and happiness. it is usually used to express people's good wish during the New Year. pasting the fu upside down means the arrival of happiness and fortune.You pasted up the spring couplets and the luck character on the doors all by yourself on Lunar New Year Eve.

Rice dumplings 

 We will eat rice dumplings. They are sticky, sweet and yummy.Actually we willmake rice dumplings with your friends this sunday.
