Thunder is the loud noise that you hear from the sky after a flash of lightning, especially during a storm. 

You also could use the word "thunder" refer to something that is moving or making a sound is the loud deep noise.

For example:The thunder of the sea.

If I say something or someone thunders somewhere, it means they move there quickly and with a lot of noise. For example:The horses thundered across the valley floor.

Experiment:Rain in a jar

Prepare a big jar,a piece of baking tin foil,an elastic band,some ice cube,some recently boiled water.

Pour some recently boiled water in the jar and cover it with the baking tin foil,put a elastic band around the foil to make it taut.After a minute,put some ice cubes on the foil.See what happens.

The hot water turns into vapour and rises inside the jar.The cold foil makes the vapour cool and turn back into water droplets,which fall like rain.

Thunder and Lightning  

Kaboom! Watching and listening to a thunderstorm can be exciting, but you wouldn’t want to be out in it. All thunderstorms make lightning and lightning is dangerous.Lightning is most likely to hit tall objects, including trees, mountains and people – anything that stands up from the ground. Thunderstorms can happen at any time of the year, but they happen most often during the spring, summer and fall. They also happen most often in the afternoon and evening. There are more than 1,800 thunderstorms every day on Earth.

How to Protect Yourself in a Thunderstorm.

1.Find shelter immediately. If you find yourself caught in a lightning storm, the key to minimizing danger is to get inside a protective structure.

2.Standing under a tree is a very bad choice. Lightning strikes tall objects, and if the tree you are standing under is struck, you may be struck as well or injured by the tree.

3.Stay away from s. Keep s closed, and try to stay within inner rooms of the structure. s provide a direct path for the lightning to travel.

4.Don’t touch anything metal or electrical. Using a landline phone is the main cause of lightning-related injuries in the US. Lightning can travel into the home from through any material that conducts electricity. This includes landlines, electrical wiring, and plumbing.

5.Get out of the water. Stay out of the bathtub or shower,and avoid indoor swimming pools.If you are fishing or swimming, get out of the water immediately, and move away from the body of water. Being near water is extremely dangerous during a lightning storm.

6.Wear rubber boots. They are made of a material which is a bad electrical conductor.

7.Prepare an emergency kit. Be ready with first aid and other disaster essentials. You may lose power during a thunderstorm, so have alternative light sources available.
