A record of 2018 Ouqu Middle School Summer Exchange Program in Queensland, Australia

2018年暑假，藕渠中学18名学生以及3名带队老师顺利完成赴澳大利亚昆士兰州阳光海岸中学游学活动。

18 students and 3 leading teachers from our school have successfully completed the 2018 Ouqu Middle School & Sunshine Beach State High School Exchange Program in Queensland, Australia this summer.

本次活动由英语浸润式学习、景点游览、名校参观等部分组成。澳大利亚, 位于南半球, 是一个气候宜人，空气清新的知名国家。我们首先来到了水天一色，碧蓝壮阔的黄金海岸，一扫了旅程疲感。接着，明星荟萃的华纳电影世界、天堂农庄、野生动物园、南岸公园、袋鼠角等地的游览，让学生们近距离地触摸袋鼠、拥抱考拉，深吸了澳洲独有的新鲜空气。

The program which consists of English immersion learning, sightseeing tours as well as visiting top universities impressed all the participants. Australia, a country located in the southern hemisphere, with fresh air and pleasant climate is one of the most popular worldwide tourist destinations. We first came to gold coast where beautiful sight integrating water and sky, helped us get rid of fatigue instantly. The star-studded Warner Movie World, Country Paradise, Australia Zoo, South Bank Park, Brisbane Museum, Kangaroo Point etc. enabled our students to have a chance to close touch kangaroos, embrace koalas and take a deep breath of the particular Aussie air.

最令人难忘的是寄宿家庭，与好朋友同宿同行开展友好学校的学习交流活动。寄宿家庭爸爸妈妈的热情拥抱、细心照顾、盛情招待、准点接送、及时沟通，令我们宾至如归。在一周学校学习中，同学们在buddy的带领下，学习了很多科目的课程，其中包括：数学，英语，科学，历史，化学，音乐，绘画，体育等。同学们还与小伙伴们共进早茶，午餐；一起打篮球，打板球。同学们既充分融入了西方校园的文化氛围当中，学到了很多知识，同时也与澳洲学校的老师和同学结下了深厚的友谊。尤其是学校特别为同学们展示的几堂英语课、土著文化课等，澳洲老师不仅教学方式丰富多样而且老师与学生之间的互动交流特别流畅，70分钟的课程，同学们个个勇于开口，人人参与英语交流。来到澳洲后，同学们基本是“全日制”用英语交流，课堂上同学们的踊跃发言令人感慨语言环境对于语言学习的重要性。

The host families, which students from both schools live and study for a whole week is the core of this program. Host mother and father’s warm hug, considerate care, hospitable reception, punctual pick-up, effective communication etc., make the host home away from home. During a week, our students led by their buddies, learned a variety of curriculum, including mathematics, English, science, history, chemistry, music, painting, sports, etc. Our students with buddies had a great time enjoying special morning tea, lunch and playing basketball, cricket together. We not only fully integrated into the western culture in the process of exchange activities, but also forged a deep friendship with Australian teachers and classmates.

It is worth mentioning that, during several classes about indigenous culture and oral English, Australian teachers enlightened and activated our kids to speak target language with multiple teaching methodologies and extreme enthusiasm, which involved everyone concentrated in 70-min linguistic output atmosphere. Meanwhile, immersed in "full-time" English communication, our students had a clear awareness of the importance of language surrounding and motivation.

在欢送会上，我们的同学也为友好学校带去了有代表性的节目。音乐是无国度友谊节目，两位同学表演了小提琴和电子琴合奏，全体同学领诵合诵《沁园春.长沙》等，我校赠与友好学校虞山赞赋墨大折扇。我们的学校交流活动在全体中外同学的飞扬合照中画上美好的句号。

At the farewell ceremony, on behalf of our school, 18 students performed a poetry recitation" Qinyuanchun﹒Changsha" followed by the ensemble of violin & keyboard by two girls. The presentation of gift— a huge folding fan with Chinese calligraphy “The Ode to Mount Yu” and a group photo of participants from both schools marked a full stop of the program.

在结束丰富多彩的学校交流活动之后，同学们参观了悉尼代表性建筑—举世闻名的悉尼歌剧院、碧波之上的港湾大桥、神秘莫测的海洋世界，庄严肃穆的圣玛丽教堂等著名景点，最后切身感受了澳大利亚顶尖名校悉尼大学，典雅庄严的大学风格，让同学们肃然燃起一股对知识的憧憬向往。

At the end of the exchange program, our students visited some representative attractions — the world famous Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbor Bridge on crystal waves, mysterious Sydney aquarium, the solemn St. Mary Cathedral, and finally came the University of Sydney, whose elegant and grand architectural style attracted students a vision of yearning for college.

这次活动让孩子们得到充分历练，飞机旅程中，同学们独立完成境外登机安检、填写全英文入境表格、友好文明地用英文向外国友人咨询问题……

Our students have experienced adequate realistic practice and conquered problems such as security inspection, boarding independently, English entry card filling as well as asking and answering questions friendly abroad etc. during the program.

我们期待着明年更丰富充实的游学活动并衷心祝愿两校友谊历久弥坚！

We are looking forward to more abundant and substantial summer program in the years to come and we sincerely hope that the friendship between the two schools will last forever!
