读万卷书，行万里路。一学期中，孩子们读了不少好书，增长了不少理论知识。寒假中，孩子们在父母的带领了，开始了游历探索世界的历程。大多数孩子都能用所学的有限的英语完美地记录下了他们的足迹和心得。这是我们第三次搞这样的征文活动，这次孩子们的参与人数和文章质量都大有提高。选取了其中一些比较有特色的文章和大家分享。让我们一起从孩子的视角和认知，来领略一下我们这个美妙的世界。

A Visit To The Countryside

This winter vacation, I didn’t go anywhere for a trip. As usual, I visited my relatives.

On a sunny day, we left the city and went to the countryside to visit one of my relative. There, I saw farms that seemed no end. I even saw some hens and ducks. The stoves were old-fashioned, you need to put a log into it every ten minutes. On that way, you can keep a big fire going. At the back of the house, there is a well. I tried to get a bucket of water from the well. I tried many times, finally I succeed and I felt very interesting. I’m so happy that I laughed out loud. After lunch, I played on the farm and picked some vegetables with the adults.

I had so much fun at the countryside, I couldn’t wait to be there again!

Jiang’nan Copper House

This winter holiday, my families went to the South Song Royal Street in Hangzhou.

There I like Zhu Bingren Bronze Art Museum especially. Most of the collections in this copper house are made of copper, and even all the roofs and furniture are made of copper, too. What I like most is a copper deer. Its head and limbs are made of wood and its body is carved with copper, like wearing a golden dress. The most beautiful part is its pair of antlers. The antlers are even longer than its body, like branches from a tree in autumn. This deer stands on a golden stone, like standing in the clouds towards the moon.

Jiang’nan Copper House is really full of surprised. The rest of the 1214 pieces of collections also made me excited.

The Lovely Blue Penguins

This winter holiday, I visited New Zealand with my parents. It is an amazing country, which has beautiful views and lovely animals. We did a lot of interesting things there, such like hiking, hunting and fishing. But what impressed me most is visiting the colony of Blue Penguin at Ormaru.

There are 18 kinds of Penguins in the world; all of them are living near the Antarctic Pole. Blue Penguins are the smallest penguins in the world. They are as tall as a petty dog, as weight as a watermelon. They have blue feathers and white abdomen.

They are small, but brave. Every day they swam 50 kilometers in the sea for food, and come back to the colony their home by group. It was a rainy night when we visited the colony. We saw dozens of Blue Penguins swimming to the colony in the rain. We dressed in raincoats, and still felt cold. But the penguins felt warm after long way swimming. They landed at the colony, and stopped in the rain for a while, to make themselves cool down in the rain.

They are so lovely and brave!

Making Stuffed Bun

During this winter holiday, I visited my grandparents. And I lived with them during the Spring Festival.

One day, my grandmother said she wanted to teach my cousins and me tomake stuffed bun, one of traditional food of the Spring Festival. I was excited because this is the first time I make this food. My grandmother made flour fermented and crumpled, then separated the big dough into small doughs. I took a small dough, shaped it as a small round pie, put meat paste into the “round pie”, and pinch the edge of the “round pie”, but why my bun was so “terrible looking”? My grandmother told me that practices makes perfection. But it’s acceptable for my first trying.

After the buns were steamed, I tasted my “ugly” bun. It was so delicious!

My First Skiing

During this winter vacation, I went to Zhang Jia Kou. The most interesting thing is skiing in Chong Li Tai Wu Skiing Town.

It's very cold there only -24℃. There is so much snow. It's white everywhere. You can make plenty of snow ball and make a huge snowman. We had a good time there. Skiing is a very exciting sport. The skiing instructor told me I was learning very fast. We skied for four days. I can slip directly from the top of the mountain to the foot of the mountain.

I'm going to ski there next winter vacation. There is so much fun.

Collecting Shells In Sanya

During this winter vacation, our family go to the beautiful Sanya. We live in the Mangrove Resort Hotel, Haitang Bay.

The most interesting thing is collecting shells in the sea there. We walk along the sea, we see all kinds of shells in the waves. Different colors, red, orange, white... We take some colorful shells. Times pass quickly, and it is in the evening. We have to back to the hotel. We are very happy!

It’s really a fantastic vacation.

Phi Phi Island

I went to Phi Phi Island with my parents during this Spring Festival. The island locates in the south of Thailand. Phi Phi Island has one of the most beautiful beach and the clearest sea water in the world. The sand is white, soft and fine, just like the flour. There are always lots of vacationers all the year round.

There are some monkeys on Phi Phi Island. These monkeys are very naughty. They can swim and dive. When I threw some biscuits into the sea, the monkeys dived into the water, swam quickly toward the biscuits and hold the biscuits to their mouth. I laughed with the monkeys' lovely behavior.

What a beautiful and interesting place the island is!

A Trip To Lake Baikal

Since I have heard the song ‘on the banks of Baikal’ , I have a longing for the beautiful place. This winter holiday, I finally came to the Lake Baikal with my family.

Here was a white world of ice and snow. I have never seen so much snow. The snow was very clean and fluffy, like cotton candies. The lake had a very thick ice and we can drive cars on it. It was very slippery and hard to walk on it, we all walked like a penguin.

The enthusiastic locals drove us to look for Blue Ice in the central area of the lake. They drifted cars on the ice, let us experience the excitement. When the winds blew away the snow on the iced lake, Blue Ice appeared, it was so crystal clear and attractive, I laid on the Blue Ice and embraced it and kiss it. The beautiful scenery let me forget the cold. I think the natural world is the greatest artist .

The trip is full of excitement and memorable!

The Bumper Car

Bumper car is an exciting amusement project. Everyone likes it very much. This winter holiday, I went to the cruise with my mom and my friend. On the cruise, we play the bumper car again. we all like this amusement project very much.

We are in the game now. My mother and I choose a yellow car and my friend Cici chooses a pink one. “Five! Four! Three! Two! One! Drive your car!” A tall man is yelling very loudly. “Let`s hit the blue car!” I said to Cici, she nods her head with a smile. Then, I drive very fast to hit the blue car. “Wow!” I said, “So exciting!” But just after one second, I feel someone hit my car very energize! “Who is hitting my car?” I feel very angry. When I look behind my car, I saw… Cici! “What are you doing?” I feel very embarrassed. But Cici laughs with a thrilled smile. I drive my car away. Now, Cici`s car is running in front of me. I have exhausted my strength to hit Cici`s car… “Wow!” Your car was...so fast!” Cici is very surprised. The interesting game is ended with laughter.

Bumper Car is really an interesting game. It gives me a lot of fun. How exciting the game is!

Cat Cafe Mocha

This winter, I went to Tokyo with my mother. At that city, my favourite place is Cat Cafe Mocha. It is in a commercial center. It is a cafe but there are a lot of cats in it.

When I open the door, many cats walk towards me. They are so cute! Some are smart. When I read books, they can sit beside me quietly. Some aren’t quiet, they are naughty! Sometimes they lap my fingers. But I don’t feel any hurt actually.

I like a Persian cat. Her name is Princess. She has soft white hair. She’s the leader of the cats. First, she is on the sofa. When I sit on this sofa, she doesn’t leave. I touch her gently, she calls ‘meow’ and lays down on my leg. I think she enjoys that feel. Because she looks up at me with her blue eyes.

I really like cats. If I go to Tokyo next time, I would like to visit Cat Cafe Mocha again.

Pamukkale

Pamukkale is a well-known and really amazing place in the world. It is in Turkey.

Pamukkale is full of beautiful white rocks. They are just like white cottons and mountains of snow. I stepped on the rock with bared foot in the Pamukkale. Some places were quite hard while others were soft. The spring made me feel warm. There are lots of springs in the Pamukkale. With the sunshine, it was really romantic to be there.

How great the charm of nature!

Meeting Snow In Shanghai

This winter holiday, I did not go for a trip. But it was still interesting in Shanghai, because of the big snow.

One day, when I got up, the city was covered with snow. The white houses, the white roads, the white trees…… Oh, all the things were white. It looks likd the view in stories, so interesting! I could not wait to run to play. I went outside quickly, the snow was glitter. I stretched my tongue and tried to taste the snow. It was cold and a little sweet. There were many children playing in the playground. In spite of the winter, we really felt hot very much. We made a snowman. Its nose was a carrot. Eyes was two leaves, and it had some buttons on the body. So cute! I took a photo for it.

A timely snow promises a good harvest. I like the snow.
